Ripping sprites from CPS2 games

Heya, I am at work so I don't have the time to google for the answer myself

Is it possible to rip sprites from Marvel Vs Capcom or any other CPS2 game? I need (animated) backgrounds used in the intro. The ones woth the lightning and the special attack one for example. Can these be ripped using an emulator?

It's probably already been done...

Check out some sites for the MUGEN fighting engine - there are people there ripping sprites to recreate the characters in that engine..

I remember using Win Kawaks to do some simple sprite rips. I haven't done it for years so if I can find out how I used to do it I'll PM you.
