I felt sorry for the poor fella as the pit stains steadily grew. I half expected him to get up half way through and say "Sorry, I'm going to have to change this bloody shirt, it looks like <some hilarious and poor taste gag that Frankie Boyle would come up with, yet I am unable to>".

I went past Monkseaton School today and sure enough, some kids were outside in normal classroom wear, having a quick kickabout. It wasn't basketball though, they were clearly just playing with a football. And it's a school famous for its football so that makes sense.

Who was that 'comedian' who was on tonight? He was so shit.

I dug up this thread to say the same. He just stated the obvious and then laughed as his own joke like it was the funniest thing in the world.

It was almost worth it for the awkward silence in the studio after one particularly bad one.

In his defence, Michael McIntyre is a really funny guy. I've seen loads of stand ups live and I might even go as far as to say he's the funniest one I've seen. He's even been on HIGNFY before and been pretty good, so I don't know what went wrong on Friday. He was dire - it was embarrasing how flat his jokes were falling and how he didn't even seem to notice.

I found him to be really funny tonight on the Apprentice: You're Fired programme. Might have a look at some of his other stuff
