Good grief really!

I could do with a bit of cash to buy a few old records I’m after or get something for the car - neither of which I can sign off under normal spends, but would I regret it?  Just don’t know.
I wish I hadn’t sold a load of records I know that much, so using that rational I should keep the lot, but it really is just sitting there…

The component cable is easily ( well, last time I checked ) worth more than double that £80 !!

Last time I sold a wavebird it was a more "reasonable" £60 mind.

** EDIT **

Sold listing, from the UK, used condition, November 8th...

For more details, it was because everyone was going to the School dance in the evening. Mum and dad wouldn't let me because they thought there be drugs there even though the teachers there too. It wasn't something rude, just along the lines when I replied I couldn't go that everyone was going to be there. They got mad, which is not shocking since dad had anger management issues.

Asian parents are the worst.

Official GameCube Scart cables got for nearly £50 even. I pulled one out of a rat's nest of cables last year at a boot for 50p. Cackled like a loon.

About 5 years ago they were still good money, mayb 25-30 though.

Saw a FB market place ad with one just sitting there, amongst a load of usual TV cables and a couple of old remotes, whole lot a fiver.

Off I went and collected, perhaps not such a cackle as your good self, I left that for the day I got the otehr digital Cube cable ( not component but D pin or somethign like that, it's been a while and never seen another one ) from a bootsale for £1 😛

That entire 18 months was a weird one for official cables at the boots in Cardiff centre. Both now shut down sadly, they were great hunting grounds.

Official GameCube RGB scart 50p

Official Sony PlayStation 3 component cable 50p

Official SNES RGB scart cable 50p

Official Atari Jaguar S video cable! 20p!

is there a thread for the opposite of all this stuff? I've been advised that the consoles need to go, and I can have one out* on rotation. The thinking is that this way I might actually play the bloody things.

I've just packed a 50ltr box with my PS4, PS3, PS2, Xbox One X, RetroN and assorted controllers.

Tomorrow I'm going back to the shop for two more boxes.

One for the Dreamcast, Wii, a Saturn, Neo Geo MVS, PC Engine, 360, Pandora 3D+, and OG Xbox.

And the other for the controllers and cables.

These will join the AES, Jaguar, Megadrive, SFC, PS2 slim, another 360, and 3 Neo Geo CDs** in the garage.

I'll try to keep the Xbox One, two more Saturns, a number of N64s, GameCube***, 2600 light-sixer and a 2600jr. hidden around the house.

With these gone, there'll be no way to slip an Atomiswave (bright red) or Naomi/Naomi2 (size of a house, and needs mounting) into the collection.

This is why I'm getting a Satiator instead.

* along with the current gen stuff (PS5, Xbox Series S, and a Switch)

** don't ask

*** she'll never find it. It's in the bathroom cupboard!

Firstly you need a man cave / shed to have all that setup!

Secondly, and more importantly, i’d be properly worried about having them in the garage - when we moved my other half had a DS lite in a PSP case (🤷🏼‍♂️) and it was left in a plastic box with lid in the garage, I saw it the other day and the case had mould on it :o This is in a brand new watertight garage thats the middle of three townhouses so  double skin all round and was at the back so as far from the garage door as can be. Most things seem fine but im assuming anything put away with finger prints or something on them is liable to go manky so id be worried about consoles and pads.

Seventhly id @Dr Nookie wants too sell that totally worthless N64…….

I guess this is sort of in keeping with this thread… I picked these up in my local Asda at the start of the week

3x 64L and an 84L Really Useful Boxes, a tenner each for the smaller and 12 for the larger one.

These are soon to hold my console boxes that are in the attic in black bags praying my 30s roof doesn’t leak ;)

In other news…

A friend bought a PSP which got me wondering where mine was, I found it, but not the charger nor my games. It did have God Of War in it, the first PSP one, Chains of Olympus perhaps? Which is actually rather good. No recollection of ever playing it, despite the UMD being in my console.

PSP was an weird one for me, it released not long after I graduated, I was living in a house with a proper cheap mortgage, and started working full time, but mentally wasn’t in a great place. Basically, I had some disposable cash, but not the mindset to actually play many games. PSP worked well for me as cheap games were fairly easy to find and I could laze on the sofa playing it, I did however ended up with a pile of shame, which I found when putting the Xmas decorations away a few days ago…

The console box is of course empty, and I still can’t find my charger (I bought a USB charger lead for a couple of quid from Amazon)

A couple of promos I probably picked up on here?

And the pile of shame on the left side of this photo, from 2 copies of Buzz to  Toca Race Driver 2, all still sealed…

Anyway, ignoring my games for now, in the few weeks (months?) I couldn’t find the games, I was looking in eBay and PSP seems to be one of the retro consoles that hasn’t gone utterly insane price wise (yet?) Lots of bargains to be had for some really decent games!

I really wish I could have kept some of the games I used to own. Nothing insane as some of you guys have but the memories seeing these boxes bring just takes me to a time when things were simpler.

I've found Really Useful boxes are were.... Really useful for this sort of thing. They clip closed so they keep the worst of the dust out.

I've recently packed away all but the Series S and the kids' Wii and Xbox One because I've lost my man cave for the next two years. Possibly longer, depending on how settled my missus gets in there. I can imagine my kids clearing the loft out in 50 years time and going "fucking hell! There's two original PlayStations up here! We're rich!"

See about 7 posts up, though they may have cleared out by now, Asda.

I saw someone post the 18L on HUKD for £7.50 so went in looking, but only had the larger ones in my local. Could be a goose chase, but good savings if you find any.

The 18L is great for DVD boxes, I have a cupboard full of them, not all filled with games mind

You probably don’t, the anxiety levels I get when I see a bit of mould or damp on a box, and mental issues with letting go of stuff isn’t worth it!

I’m now spending my afternoon trying to decide if I should put my Donkey Konga boxes into the Really Useful Boxes or my Dreamcast Racing Controller knowing the answer for me is probably both (for me, and neither for most others!)

Space / box cost and crazy metal health make these things impossible!
