Did find a Red Resi Evil Xbox 360 in great condition for £25. I'll sell off the crappy pads that came with it and keep it for myself. Little else of note there, hopefully Sunday redeems the weekend

Having no luck working out what it's for exactly. Uses a standard floppy connector. Leaning towards a BBC micro but given its 3.5" I'm not sure. Just nothing on the net like it

Master Compact did 3.5” discs so definitely possible. Might be worth asking over on the Stardot forums?

I'm near sure its for a BBC Micro given the connector, I've powered it on but I just get a brief flash of the activity lights so think it needs a machine attached to do anything more. I'll throw it up on ebay soon I think as I've no use for it (no BBC and I've moved largely to using a Gotek on my other machines)

I've not worked on The Biggest Loser. I'm sure none of us have, but I say that because I worked adjacent to the poor souls who did. Apparently the lass from it was a bit of a pain to get her to do her contractual work for voicing the game because it was a competitor to another game with her name on it.

 

And so ends the one and only time the subject of Biggest Loser on Wii will come up.

This is why I love this thread, where else would I hear juicy gossip like this for some shovelware title.

It's actually still sealed that one. I'm going to stick it in the loft in the hope that it only sold five copies and it'll become the holy grail of Wii collecting.

I think the female trainer from The Biggest Loser killed herself. Not sure if it's the same one who's on the game though (the Wii game that is!) .

In stark contrast to @AK Bell's story, Antonio Fargas - he of Huggy Bear fame - was a consummate professional when doing the voice over work for the Starsky and Hutch game. Really nice guy as well.

I'm not sure about that one, but the one before it (just "The Biggest Loser") did really well and it was one of the few games they got royalties on. So it's probably not a rarity. 

 

I think it was a UK trainer that commit suicide. Not the one on the box. The US ones are still grifting away on larger people's dreams.

Patrick, or at least the voice of him, from Spongebob allegedly looked down on doing voiceovers for video games and didn't put as much effort in as the others who were great. I heard. Allegedly. I should have stuck more allegedly in that other post too.

Would love a celebrity voiceovers in games hell thread but I suspect a lot of the best stories can't be told. I did remember hearing once that Daniel Craig hated doing James Bond games. There you go.

You're right on both counts, the trainer (Angie Dowds) from the UK edition did commit suicide, the trainer on the game box is Jillian Michaels from the US show.

Some slightly unusual stuff at yesterday’s car boot, although I didn’t buy.

 

A games trader had a Mega Drive Arcade Power Stick. Not that unusual a sight, but this was the rarer Japanese version with a micro-switched joystick and blue start button. Really good condition too, with no rust on the baseplate and all four feet intact. I’d have asked about it if didn’t already have two of these in a box on top of my wardrobe needing microswitch replacements.

 

A stall almost entirely selling CDs had a random NTSC-US cart of Pilotwings for the SNES. I have an SD2SNES, but perhaps should have asked what he wanted for it, given as it was so outside his normal stock.

Last week I got five DS games for a grand total of £6.40 in a charity shop – New SMB, Donkey Kong, two Professor Laytons, the 51 books compilation. Unfortunately, one of the Laytons and the book compilation were bootleg cartridges, albeit in convincing looking cases. And I’ve just noticed that the New SMB case has a (legit) Super Mario 64 DS cartridge in it. Bah.

What are everyone’s local car boots like this summer? Are they back to the same numbers they used to be before covid?
 

Mines is a shadow of its former self unfortunately, 3 years ago there could be 400 sellers at this time of year if the weather was forecast to be good, now there are 100 sellers.

The York car boot is pretty much back to normal this year. It was never as big as 400 though, and has a “no new items” policy to stop it turning into a de facto market.

My locals in South Wales are getting near normal levels but a few of the bigger ones have shutdown. Have heard that 2 at least were due to council interference or insurance costs. Other two big ones in Cardiff have shut or are shutting down due to the land being sold.

Oh you go to Calverton too? 
 

I used to go regularly but have only been a couple of times this year, It’s been quite small both times.

The one nearest me in Norfolk is still going but it hasn't been very busy the few times I've been this year. About a third to half of the sale is regular traders and the few genuine booters sell some proper tat (lots of old baby toys, boxes of rubbish DVDs, novelty secret santa presents that have never been opened etc).

This morning’s unusual spot - a C64C on a house clearance stall. Very yellowed, but interesting - never seen one before.

 

The casing looks very (to me) “90s”, like an Amiga 500. But the keys look like something from a 70s/80s mainframe terminal, presumably the same as the original C64. Also, I didn’t realise there was such a cliff edge between the top of the keyboard and the vented area. It’s almost like a reverse Sam Coupe.

 

Also spotted a NGPC cart on a trader stall, which is unusual.
