Adverts don't bother me unlike some. But what does bother me is that we're paying the same amount for Live as you guys over there, yet we only get half the content. No netflix, no TV channels, no indie games.

No indie games! That's just wrong. Can you get Netflix on other devices?

I guess you have a point with the Windows thing but be careful not to give them ideas, I don't tend to notice the ads on the dash but I do think it's cheeky putting them there.

No worries on the dickhead thing I get called far worse daily and that's just from the wife.

  • 1 month later...

I got my update last night.

I'm liking it. IE is a particular highlight. Very smooth and fast.

Shows even more what a joke the PS3 browser is.

Have you tried the ps3 browser since the last update? its pretty good and you can play yourporn on that unlike this ie browser on xbox. Its faster in genral surfing but the whole internet video thing is pretty big now a day and i aint found a site thats worked properly as of yet.

Finally Internet on the Xbox 360 :o

never knew that was coming at all.

brilliant news.

It was was one of the BOOOOM announcements at E3 that was met by 10,000 of these <_< on here in the Microsoft E3 thread.

It's only for Gold members though. It's not going to be a traditional browser though.

I find it odd that it's not just a normal browser as it would have been nice to be able to use a normal wireless keyboard and mouse... i seems to be orientated to pad and kinect control* and for that reason, I'm staying silver.

*watching pornotube using kinect is going to be impossible as you're going to end up navigating all over the place and also Bill Gates will be watching and recording your vinegar stroke.

I suppose it wouldn't as it would generally make things like netfilx etc. redundant as someone somewhere would do what they did with the wii and make a website specifically designed for the browser that would be 100% free and 100% better to navigate.

I thought the days of using internet browsers on TV died out ten years ago. Who is this feature for? :S

Christ knows. I suppose anyone who hasn't got a smart phone and is too bone to get up and turn on the PC. Of course, if you don't have a keyboard it'd be more effort than shifting your arse and pressing the on button.

The UK store has been updated to match the US store now, although the Add-Ons tab is mysteriously absent at present. I loathed the last iteration of the dashboard but this is so much better, even though it's the same basic concept. They use a much bigger area of screen estate so they can fit more boxes on there. They've gotten rid of the giant rotating ad which never really worked for a controller based interface. But more importantly, the layout now feels logical and consistent, particularly in the games marketplace. It's almost unbelieveable how it was such a mess before, but it now has less layers and has a consistent button layout from tab to tab. It only took a year but they've finally made a silk purse out of a sows ear. Shame the game tab is still after social, tv and videos though.

The one on the Home screen? You could use the right thumbstick to scroll through that ad's five options, although unfortunately it was never made at all obvious.

Just tried booting up a disc and then quitting back to the dash. Quickplay loaded practically instantly, as did my games list in the games tab. My Pins took quite a while to load though, and I had only pinned 6 of the tv/video apps in there. 141 games in total on my hard drive.
