Guitar Hero DS

Blue Screen Error

Recommended Posts

Sounds like it might just work, although it's going to be hard to make out the screen when rocking.

And the tacked-on mic-and-touchscreen stuff just sounds awful. Did the console versions force you to hilariously balance plates using the tilt sensor mid-song? So why is this nonsense shoved in here?

No, but it did make you waggle the whammy to 'fix' your broken string, etc.

It's one of those 'sounds-fun-on-paper' ideas.

It sounds fun. It will probably be irritating. :D

It seems like a really uncomfortable way to hold the DS. It would have made more sense to have the guitar buttons on the opposite side, alongside the DS cart slot.

That way the touch screen would be nearest to you for strumming, and the play screen would be correctly angled so you're not craning your neck. The game should also be rotated 90 degrees, so the graphics match the actual position of the buttons.

Does that make sense? Perhaps I should draw a diagram? ;)

Yes please. ^_^

Use your imagination!

I'm with you phastie! Take Paulando's mock up, except turn the top screen another 180 degrees so it's the 'right' way up. Move the button attachment to the back, near the DS slot. This way you could hold your DS flat on the palm of your non-stylus hand, and just scribble any direction on the touchscreen to strum. its not like you need to see the colours on the buttons or anything.

Makes more sense than Paulando's 'upside down' method in my head, at least :(

I can't believe they want the player to "strum" the touchscreen. It'll be dead within days with some of the more aggressive players, I reckon.

Liek those DS pods they uysed to have in game shops, that always had horribly blistered touchscreens :)

Anyway - of more concern is how 'twitchy' the touch screen will be with registering bum strums, I think.

I do see where you're coming from, but I don't think it would work in reality. So the DS cart is built onto the add-on, and then that plugs into the top cart slot? What if you accidentally knocked it too much and it crashed the game, or pushed it down too much and it ejected the cartridge? :) And, if anything, strumming the screen closest to you would actually obscure the top screen.

Either way, I think we're all missing the important issue here- and that's how much of a twat you're all going to look playing it on the train :(

The device could still plug into the GBA cart slot, but the connection would need to be on the opposite side from the guitar buttons. The DS cart slot doesn't need to be covered. It's hard to imagine... behold my amazing blurry drawing skillz!

I don't think strumming on the touch screen would really block the top screen any more than using the standard stylus.

.

At least with the real version you feel like you're playing guitar.

Exactly; a large part of the appeal of most great rhythm-actioners (GH, Samba, Beatmania) comes from peripherals that mimic the equivalent real-life instruments, and I can't see how an add-on like that will make you look like any less of a twat. Jesus, a harmonica rhythm-action game would be more suited to the DS.

Agreed. To me, this looks more like Mad Touchscreen Accordion or something. YEAH, ROCK!

I guess they should have changed the name to Accordion Hero.

Come on people, lets rock out as they did in the old country. Every pre-order gets a waste jacket and a small monkey.
