Hitman Next Gen

Yes, I really woulnd't even waste my time - it's terrible, so many times I thought "THAT'S NOT WHAT 47 WOULD DO!!!!!"

Why is it that games designers / writers etc can create a brilliant story / idea etc.

Only for professional film makers to churn out junk?

I thought Resi, Alon in the Dark, Tomb Raider et all, had strong enough stories to be turned into good enough films. Silent Hill wasn't too bad IIRC but still, not good enough Hollywood

:(

Pob, you are fast becoming by favourite Rllmuker. What with this and the Aliens thread...

Well I'm glad to know my not doing any real work is appreciated. Thanks!

The Hitman movie has one excellent five minute sequence. It's a hit in a restaurant, and it plays out just like a hit in the game. I like Olyphant, and think he looks the part. In fact, the film in general looks good. Aside from that, it's pants. The machete fight is bonkers.

Oh, and they're not clones in the film, just bald orphans.

I'm on the Wedding one now, managed to kill one of the targets (

Followed him into his room and when he sat down to watch some TV popped a cap in the back of his head.)

but while I was thinking of a way to get the next one (

Poisoned the cake but he didn't seem to want to eat it for some reason.

walking around someone too a dislike to me and started shooting at me for no reason obvious to me.

I shall have an other go tonight and maybe try some different ways to do it.

I did this one last night, surprisingly easy after that bastard boat level.

Is there some way of getting and using the priest outfit? Or feeding someone to the gators?

The reverend hides booze in his bible (it's hollowed out) and goes off to a secluded bit of the main house to take swigs of it every so often. You can easily sedate him and take his clothes and bible, which can have a bomb put in it. One of my messiest (yet most entertaining) attempts at the hit involved taking the marriage service and as the groom walks up to the little gazebo through the crowd, detonate the strategically placed Bible-bomb, killing dozens. Had to make sure the bride wasn't in range, though.

47 will actually perform the marriage service too, you know.

Oh MAN Rudi, I'm so doing that tomorrow then :) I never bothered trying.

Do you know what else is fucking GENIUS aobut Hitman? The background/story for each hit - or rather, the lack of. They never tell you clearly, but for exmaple, on the Wedding stage, you just KNOW who's ordered that hit, quite dark in places, love it. Oh, and they make sure to let you know the people you are going after are properly nasty cunts too, very good shit :)

Oh Crispin, it's in development, don't you worry :) I know this to be a fact. I cannot say how, obviously. But it is fax of the highest tru.

Maybe you know it because it was confirmed about a year ago in a press release from Eidos about upcoming games?

Our future next generation console titles include new versions of Tomb Raider, Hitman and Championship Manager plus new IPs including Kane & Lynch and Crossfire

Has anyone got these ratings:

1 - Needle Pumper

2 - The Russian Hare

3 - Insurance Agent

4 - Pianoman

5 - Garrotter

6 - Insane Florist

7 - Sushi Chef

8 - King of the Jungle

9 - Prince of Darkness

10 - Beelzebub

11 - Swashbuckler

12 - Dr. Death

13 - Skull Splitter

14 - Raging Bluecollar

15 - Frenzied Firefighter

16 - Evil Eye Gouger

17 - Murderous Manicurist

18 - Slugger

19 - Electrocuter

I was looking for the achievements I haven't got yet and noticed the Secret 'Special Rating' one ;)

Haven't achieved any of those. Are they just alternative ratings to Cleaner, Specialist etc? Do they require a string of hits all with the same Causa Mortis across the stage/level or from repeats across many stages/levels?

I am quite intrigued, I can attribute some of those ratings to a method for offing the mark but I am quite stumped on some. ;)

To get those, iirc (i've not actually done them myself) you have to make death by using the various objects found around the stages ;) I'm sure there's a nail-file or something, which can net you the Murderous Manicurist one... And you don't just kill your targets to ge them.. you hav eto go a little postal

Krypt, I'll spoiler this just incase, but that last secret you mentioned -

not the 47 kills in one stage one, is it?

Pardon my disgraceful ignorance, but I'd never played a Hitman game until I tried the Blood Money demo the other day.

I've just ordered the PC triple pack (Hitman 2, Contracts, Blood Money - £9.99 on Play), in which order should I play them? Have they become dumbed down over time, or is Blood Money the best?

I had a stab at that before work this morning. I picked the Vinyard level, lost count around 30-32 kills and then died ;)

I only picked that level as it was open to me under the 'Rookie' difficulty as I haven't played through it on that. You would've thought it would stack so if you did it on Pro it would count on Normal & Rookie too. Gah.

Blood Money is regarded the best, 2 is a very solid game. I haven't played Contracts.

I'd play them in order, that's a lot of gaming for a bargain, right there.

With Blood Money being played out as a series of flashbacks/memories, I feel like I am missing out on bits of story from not having played previous releases. I appreciate the story is not billed as being a cracker and it's all about the contracts - I do wonder if there is something more that I could be aware of.

Would a read of something as shockingly inaccurate, like Wikipedia, do anything for the narative? Don't want to run into any spoilers along the way mind ;)

You'll find it hard to go back to previous games once you've sampled Blood Money - there are too many new moves and other cool things. I loved the first game at the time, but only a fraction of the levels are any good, and some of the mechanics are woeful. In any case, the best missions are re-made in Contracts. The only reason to play the first one is for the story.

Hitman 2 and Contracts are still really good and worth playing through, but Blood Money blows them away. Blood Money is the only one which has consistantly excellent levels. There are a fair few duffers in 2 (especially) and Contracts.

Definitely read the stories to the previous games, Codename 47 especially. Blood Money has its own self-contained story (the Contracts/BM crossover is just a bit of fun really), but understanding 47's birth/past definitely adds something.
