Bizarre Creations has announced downloadable content for PGR4 and by God, there is lots of it.

The two downloadable packs will be launched on Thursday 14th February, one of them free and the other costing 400 Microsoft Points. The free challenge pack contains the 2007 Peugeot Flux, the car that was designed for a competition Bizarre hosted last year. The delayed Cat And Mouse mode will make it in, along with a brand new Tourist Mode. Finally, the pack will include 10 new achievements.

Those who want to throw 400 Microsoft Points PGR4's way can get the Premium Pack which includes 10 new vehicles - the 2008 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Concept, 2007 Volkswagen Golf GTI W12-650, 2007 Peugeot Flux, 1987 BMW M3 E30 DTM, 2007 Ferrari 430 Scuderia, 2008 Honda S2000 CR and 2008 Callaway C16 Speedster are the cars while for the bikes, you'll get the 2007 Yamaha YZF-R1, 1995 Aprilia RS 250 and 1998 Aprilia RSV 1000 Tuono R.

The Premium Pack also includes a new World Challenge Arcade more, with 20 events spread across three themed chapters. There's a few more bits and bobs sprinkled across both packs so click on the link to read more. With all this new content, single Project Gotham Racing 4 fans have one less (or is it one more?) reason to feel depressed this Valentine's Day. Hurray!

Tourist Mode

This is a simple mode our forum users have requested. Players drive round an open city for a period of time determined by the host. The player with the most kudos is determined the 'winner', but this is really a sandbox mode where players can drive around looking at the environment and making their own games up.

What they should include in this update is the ability to skip past races you have already done when doing the challenges. It's so fucking stupid that you get to events on the calendar that you have already beaten, yet can't skip past them. Whoever thought of that idea, is a total twat.

I just use PGR4 for custom time trials. The structure of the main game is pants and I absolutely detest cone challenges and time vs. kudos, etc.

Just give me races dammit. I was showing it to a friend the other night and he was completely gobsmacked by how good it looks - with the weather effects especially.

It's not really a problem though as more events unlock as you progress up the ranks. I still have about half of the challenges to do that I didn't do on the way to rank 1.

Oh but it is. I was going through the calendar again and came across a date with a string of 7 races I had already beaten. It was the only choice of event as well. So it was either do 7 fucking races again(some consisting of the fucking dreadful cone and time vs kudos thing - I'm with Sabreman, they are shit and should be a separate part of the game) or switch off and come back when the calendar day had changed. Pain in the arse!

Hang on, none of the early events require 7 events to complete IIRC? If you really have done them all then do the lowest one possible. I still don't see the problem even if it does happen, of which the chances are slim. The career mode is about progressing to number 1 rank. Do you think professional drivers want to skip events? "Oh no, I'm not doing the monaco grand prix again"

Ok,there are several events I haven't raced yet. The cone challenges get on my tits. There was one date that loaded up with a single event consisting of 7 races. 7 races is a lot to plough through when I switch the game on for maybe half an hour or so. I didn't want to do the same races again, I wanted to do the ones I was still missing out on - and maybe on different variations of the tracks.

I don't want to load a game up and it force me to do stuff over again when all I want to do is get on with the bits I missed out on. It would be the easiest thing in the world to include a "you have completed these challenges do you wish to skip them" option.

In all the earlier PGR's I can race the races I want.

But it would defeat the point of the mode. You are earning points and so are the opposition. If you skipped races you'd go down ranks as the other drivers would pick up points. I understand what you have against it but I don't think you really understand the mode. If you want to do short races then the arcade mode is still there for you.

tourist mode sounds good.

but really i just want to drive around to look at everything on my own.

and i agree you should be able to skip dates altogether if you already did/won all the events. having only a few left, theres no way i'm going through another complete season. it only defeats the point of the mode if you havent already attained the no1 rank.

Yeah I understand where you are coming from. But it's the completist in me seeing events and not being able to quickly access them. I want all the events on the calendar filled in so I feel like I have completed that particular mode.

I did the DLC event in the arcade. The BMW was great on the Behemoth (3 laps!). My best lap was 8:30.19 (which was good by my standards). The Scuderia was up against a Murcielago and again was great to drive.

The Golf seemed a useful car for getting Kudos.

Overall I don't think there was a bad car in the pack. I even liked the bikes...
