Taken - Liam Neeson

The opening is dire, most of the characters completely unconvincing and the morality dubious at best, but man, when this gets going it's just a juggernaut of pure awesome. I wanted Neeson to take his very particular set of skills and extinguish the lifeforce of every single Parisian he clapped eyes on.

Watched this tonight oddly enough.

I thought it was....middle of the road. Wooden acting, second rate action and no redeeming features. Not enough action for a pizza movie.

I preferred that one with Mel Gibson.

You couldn't be more wrong, even if you changed your name to Sir Geoffrey Wrong.

Sugartits.

The problem with a sequel, is making it seem personal again. His daughter is just a dumb bitch if she gets blagged again. You're into Home Alone 2 "We did it again !" territory. I don't think he'd be as concerned if it was his ex-wife or one of his army buddies.

The ex-wife's new husband, he's a dodgy sort, it'll probably have something to do with him and his shady dealings.

The start is fine. It's over and done with in 20 minutes and sets the tone perfectly. It also sets up the pop singer bit nicely so it can all get wrapped up satisfactorily at the end. I'd estimate it's no longer that the exposition in Die Hard.

Also, I guess that French intelligence guy will be up to no good in the sequel. If he didn't die, I can't remember.

Just saw this... it was fucking awesome!

one question though...

why the hell did he shoot the franch dude's wife? We were in fits over here, proper harsh

Because it got results.

exactly. that may be the standout moment in the entire film, where you realise shit is on - in the same way when he goes to the house with the red door and shoots every fucker in there - plugging one guy in the back as he goes down the stairs, then walking away.

Yeah, it shows you that he will do whatever it takes to get his daughter back. Screw morality, decency, fairness and all that crap, anyone in his way is going down.

This was badly acted, badly directed cliché ridden shite. It's so bad, it's almost Transformers 2 standard. Is it really getting a sequel?

What? Almost as bad as Transformers 2, did Liam Neeson touch you in the bad place? I can't understand how you could put those two films on the same level at all.

proper harsh

Nah, but Brian's brutally succinct follow-up speech was proper harsh.

It's a flesh wound. But if you don't get me what I need, the last thing you'll see before I make your children orphans, is the bullet I put between her eyes. Now, Patrice St. Clair.

Fuck yeah! How can you not love this, action movie of the decade... maybe.
