Were the IRB (or whonever it was) right to say something about the refs being a bit shit? I reckon they were, its not big stuff but blatantly squint line-outs, scrum feeding and scrums in-general are very hit-and-miss for fouls. Plus the tmo is ibterfereing way too much for me.

Scrum feeds will surely continue? I don’t think scrum half’s actually know how to put it in straight anymore.

I guess the major problem with refs is some have different styles of refereeing, some do it very much by the book and others will let things slide if it allows the game to flow.

Nigel Owens is an obvious candidate for being looser with the rules, if a scrum collapses but the ball is playable he'll let the game carry on. I'd say being as Nigel is probably the best ref in the world that his looser style is probably the best, the by the book guys just end up having stop start games.

FFS Ireland. Old enough to remember when Joe Schmidt that turned us into New Zealand but meaner.

As good as Japan were - and they were very good - the game turned on some a few bad mistakes from Ireland. Awful lineout in a perfect position at the start of the second half. The accidental offside that led directly to their try. You could argue about pressure but the play was madness given the way the game was going.

So that group is wide open, I stil think there was something seriously wrong in the Scottish camp for the Ireland game, i don't know if it was over training or an illness but they were out on their feet at 30 mins and had players throwing up during the game. They might not be the best team in Europe but they're still fit professional athletes and they just didn't look it.

Weird match. We looked fairly poor, plenty of handling errors and bad discipline.

Still, Exeter players got a grand total of 45 minutes game time (3 late subs) and got two tries which makes me smile.

Don't feel sorry for Lavanini btw, he's always been a complete fucking thug.
