VGChartz is displaying the latest hardware estimates for the U.S. on its front page, but the full page is still showing last week's. Anyway, here's what we have at the moment. I'll update should the software chart be stuck up, too.

VGChartz U.S. Estimates for the week ending 28th October

Wii - 144,795

Xbox 360 - 139,150

Nintendo DS - 136,970

PSP - 62,379

PlayStation 3 - 43,185

PS3 slightly up, but 360 and Wii holding very strong in the U.S. right now if these are anything to go by. Complete reversal to the European situation as far as the PS3 and 360 go, anyway.

they got me with the BC. While I'm sure it'll be back next year, you just can't account for Sony's reasoning of late.

Ha, that's how they got us all.

And Soong, yeah Uncharted will (possibly) be great for the six hours it lasts. Then what? Where's the Mario Galaxy or Mass Effect?

Surely because in Europe we've had the 40gb SKU and the price cut whilst they haven't?

Nov 2 is when the 40gb is out in the US and the 80% cut by $100 so I'm suprised so many are being sold. Poor bastards!

Weren't most of the sales in uk for the 60gb?

The price-cut has already taken effect, I believe. It's just the 40GB unit that comes in on November 2nd - at least, that's what Wiki says: -

On October 18, 2007, SCEA announced that the 80 GB PlayStation 3 model would receive an immediate price reduction in North America to $499 (USD/CAD). In addition, the 40 GB model would be released on November 2, 2007 for $399, with Spiderman 3 on Blu-ray.

Anyone actually over in the U.S. able to clear this up?

GT5 for the mass-market; Top Gear will see to that.

I'm not sure anyone in the U.S., Japan or mainland Europe watches Top Gear though. :(

Yeah I definitely said it was out before Christmas!

Oi you. You're ignoring me. This was the first week of the 80GB's price-cut, which explains the rise in sales. It's just the 40GB unit next week.

Let's all buy consoles now to play games next year!

Yeah there's definitely nothing to play this year. Like, oooo.... Ratchet, Uncharted, Haze, Kane & Lynch, Singstar, Pro Evo 8, Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty 4. NOTHING!

It's a shame we have to wait til next year. WHICH IS SOOOO FAR AWAY NOW!

And no to the £10. Apparently you didn't pay out last time.

Didn't lose. The fact 3 people paid me surely shows something...

Edit: hang on, Soong's replying to Beertiger. :(

Yeah don't worry. You're a brother now.

Okay. Let's try that again. Full results are in now.

Massive week for software this week. Have to say, I thought Guitar Hero would sell best on Wii - am I wrong to be slightly disappointed by those figures? Could well pick up, I guess.

In the top 10:

Xbox 360 - 5

Wii - 3

PlayStation 3 - 1

PSP - 1

Why would you have expected it to have done better on the Wii? All the previous games have been on the PS2 or 360 and they have a bigger installed base in the US. In a very competitive software chart those are great figures (estimates) for the Wii GH3.

That's nearly 300,000 sales for GH3! Not back, Rock Band is gonna do half that I guess. Although I'll be in that half.

What does GH3 retail for? That's a lorra lorra money right there.

I'd expect that few people would be buying this one with a guitar. Obsessives will have got the guitars with GH1+2. More casual players wouldn't have waited for the 360 version. I assume that you can get it standalone.
