Rllmuk's Official Sales Figures Thread

Yeah, I can't think of anything past Mario Kart that I really want, but then that's probably just because they haven't announced anything. Same goes for the 360. They'll probably have some sort of press thing in January showing what they've got for the first half of next year though.

Smash Brothers?

I'm so gonna buy one to put on ebay. Yes I am scum.

I've been saying for a while that the 360 is struggling to maintain momentum in the UK, and Europe, and these figures bear that out once again.

As Scottr said, it's had the bext line-up of games by a mile in the secondhalf of 2008, as well as price-cuts, and the release of a new version (the Elite). However, bar a few brief surges, it has been around the 11,000 mark in the UK. Whereas the Wii, which is suply-constrained overhere, is murdering the opposition - almost catching the DS!!

Seems that the majority of Halo sales have gone to people who already had 360s.

Nintendo must be laughing, although at the same time worrying that they won't be able to capitalise fully on the Wii's runaway success unless they can get more machines on shelves before and then during Christmas. I wonder how long we'll have to wait for the news stories - 'Wiis go for a small fortune on eBay as parents get desperate!'

According to a thread on NeoGaf, based on the Nintendo produced sales figures, the 360 has been comfortably outsold in Europe by the PS3 this year (ie during 2007). They have the figures as circa 2,000,000 wiis, 930,000 PS3s and 650,000 360's.

What about the US sales figures?

I am sure Sony would rather be out selling Microsoft there.

Sorry to take the obvious bait, but launch, etc.

The 1mil it made in the first few weeks makes up the bulk of the PS3s figures.

In better news, Wii RE4 sold over 1 million copies worldwide, that's 600k above Capcoms expectations.

Capcom is proud to announce that Resident Evil 4 Wii edition for the Nintendo Wii has shipped over 1 million copies worldwide.

Since the release of the first Resident Evil game in 1996, the series has shipped over 33 million units (as of October 30, 2007) and is valued as one of Capcom's most original and cutting-edge titles worldwide. "Resident Evil 4 Wii edition" retains the overflowing intensity of the original Resident Evil 4 while bringing players a totally unique, new experience through the controls of the Wii Remote. In this way, by retaining the interest of the core fanbase and expanding outward toward new casual players through the Wii platform, Capcom has broken the 1-million-units milestone, and successfully captured the attention of a new set of users.

It is Capcom's on-going plan to aggressively pursue the continued creation of unique and inspired creations for the Wii, including such titles as "Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles", which is set to go on sale on November 15th, followed by "Sengoku Basara 2 (Heroes) Double Pack" (November 29th), "We Love Golf!" (December 13th), and "Monster Hunter 3 (tri-)" (TBA).

Indeed. Until the price-cut, the 360 and PS3 have been neck and neck in Europe according to the estimates - with the 360 actually ahead most weeks, because of UK sales.

I bought a Wii yesterday. Keith, you might want to add that to your figures. ;)

Next update. Promise.

They worked out those sales by looking at a picture of a chart produced during a Nintendo press conference and counting the pixels. Yeah.

Using some actual official figures, I personally think it's marginally been in Sony's favour, as the Nintendo graph covers week 23 to week 42 and doesn't include Spain which is very favourable to Sony (already beaten X360 LTD by a large margin officially) or Italy (supposedly also a pro-Sony territory). The other smaller Euro territories are not going to swing the figures too much either way.

I don't believe it was above expectations. Why would they make over one million copies if they only expected to sell a third of that?

Because it was sold out everywhere at one point and they had to manufacture more, maybe?

And it's shipped, not sold.

Indeed - I'd agree. The 360 has done well in the UK, Australia and Scandinavia - the trade off is, basically, against the rest of Europe, where the PS3 has outsold it. The end result is fairly close, but probably just in the PS3's favour. Although, overall, it's not really made much difference to the worldwide picture.

Developers will turn to the Wii, says iSuppli.

The problems have begun to affect even the third-party publishers, including leading game maker Electronic Arts, which has banked heavily on the success of the PlayStation 3 platform.

EA is losing revenue due to meagre PlayStation 3 sales and the company is rooting for price cuts and improvements to the console in order to encourage software sales. Perhaps hearing EA's plea, Sony this month announced a $100 price cut for the PlayStation 3.

However, because Sony was slow to reduce the price of the PlayStation 3 and to produce compelling games, third- party game publishers are flocking to other platforms. If the PlayStation 3 can't promote more game sales, developers may begin to feel working with Nintendo outweighs the benefits of working with Sony.
