Squarepusher

Tundra (Feed Me Weird Things)

Beep Street (Hard Normal Daddy)

Go! Spastic (Go Plastic)

Tetra-Sync (Ultravisitor)

Welcome to Europe (Hello Everything)

Dedicated Loop (Selection Sixteeen)

Come on my Selector (Big Loada)

I Wish You Could Talk (Go Plastic)

Damn, not easy is it!

If I'm feeling up to it I'll do a Aphex Twin/AFX/Polygon Window/Caustic Window list too - that's gonna be really hard...

Anyone up for Bowie? I'd do one; but I only own albums prior to 1980 and I'm still finding my round all his stuff

My Beatles list (I'm not really trying to avoid repeating the other lists):

All My Loving

Can't Buy Me Love

Help! Ticket to Ride

Norwegian Wood (This Bird has Flown)

I am the Walrus

Helter Skelter

Happiness is a Warm Gun

Revolution (single)

Don't Let Me Down

Here Comes the Sun

...except that's ten and I've somehow missed out A Day in the Life. Argh!

Cease the debate, here's the real Radiohead list. :P

Street Spirit (The Bends)

Paranoid Android (OK Computer)

Exit Music (For A Film) (OK Computer)

Lucky (OK Computer)

Idioteque (Kid A)

Pyramid Song (Amnesiac)

Life In A Glass House (Amnesiac)

There There (Hail To The Thief)

Reckoner (In Rainbows)

Jigsaw Falling Into Place (In Rainbows)

Your list is better than Synchronated's because it has something from Hail to the Thief on it. :( (But then again, his has tracks from I Might Be Wrong...)

Bjork

Human Behaviour - Debut

Army of Me - Post

Hyper Ballad - Post

Hunter - Homogenic

Joga - Homogenic

Frosti/Aurora* - Vespertine

Where Is The Line - Medulla

Oceania - Medulla

Triumph of a Heart - Medulla

All Is Full Of Love - Greatest Hits

My Bjork list would be very similar (I'd pick the same Medulla songs as you), except I haven't heard Vespertine :( so I'd probably replace that pair with Bachelorette.

Why have you listed All is Full of Love under Greatest Hits, when it's also on Homogenic? Is it a different version?

Butthole Surfers

Dum Dum

Human Cannonball

Pepper

Negro Observer

Mexican Caravan

Goofy's Concern

Sweat Loaf

Jimi

I Saw An X-Ray of a Girl Passing Gas

Jingle of a Dog's Collar

Can you add the album names pls?, I've only got Independent Worm Saloon but I've always wanted to track down some more of their stuff.

Yeah, the track on the Greatest Hits is a slightly more up tempo version. The vocal melodies are the same, but I think the added drums, production ambience and plucked strings/weird horn sounding synths make it completely different in tone. IMO it's the superior version of the song. Or at least I thought it would be a good track for a Bjork newbie. :(

I adore Idioteque, it's easily one of my favourite Radiohead tracks. But the live version is so massively better than the studio version that I'd have that in a top ten. Plus as far as I know, there isn't a studio version of True Love Waits, so I'd have that in there as well. I Might Be Wrong LP-aces.

Lonely Sea

Don't Worry Baby

She Knows Me Too Well

Cabinessence

Darlin'

Nine Inch Nails:

1 - We're In This Together (The Fragile)

2 - Sin (Pretty Hate Machine)

3 - Heresy (The Downward Spiral)

4 - And All That Could Have Been (And All That Could Have Been)

5 - Starfuckers Inc. (The Fragile)

6 - Last (Broken)

7 - 10 Miles High (Things Falling Apart)

8 - Big Man With A Gun (The Downward Spiral)

9 - The Great Below (The Fragile)

10 - Self Destruction, Final (Further Down The Spiral)

Also, I hated the last two albums, so that probably doesn't help.

It's good but it's not right.

Here's what I came up with:

1 - And All that Could Have Been (Still)

2 - Head Like A Hole (Pretty Hate Machine)

3 - Something I Can Never Have (Pretty Hate Machine)

4 - Hurt (The Downward Spiral)

5 - March Of The Pigs (The Downward Spiral)

6 - We're In This Together (The Fragile)

7 - Ripe [with decay] (The Fragile)

8 - Just Like You Imagined (The Fragile)

9 - Capitol G (Year Zero)

10 - The Perfect Drug (The Perfect Drug EP)

I found it pretty tough to not just list most of The Fragile tbh.

And since no-one's done one:

Tool

1 - Opiate (Opiate)

2 - Intolerance (Undertow)

3 - Prison Sex (Undertow)

4 - Sober (Undertow)

5 - Stinkfist (Aenima)

6 - Eulogy (Aenima)

7 - H. (Aenima)

8 - Pushit (Aenima)

9 - The Grudge (Lateralus)

10 - Ticks And Leeches (Lateralus)

Again, pretty tough to not overly represent Aenima.

Man, I really thought about Forty Six & 2 alot, it's a superb song and kinda exemplifies what Tool do, the repetition and evolution of a single theme over and over (much like H.) and THAT drum solo. I think I should have put it in, probably ahead of Ticks and Leeches, arguably Hooker With A Penis would be a better choice than Ticks and Leeches too. Like I said though, I didn't want to over represent Aenima. It's an amazing album, one of the best sounding albums too IMO, the production is amazing.

Great choices! Other must-have remixes:

Nothing (Headcleanr mix)

Easy Tiger (Bertrand Burgalat & A.S. Dragon version)

Enjoy The Silence (The Quad: Final mix)

Fly On The Windscreen (1993 live reworking)

World In My Eyes (1993 live reworking)

Alright, you asked for it:

Krautrock:

Krautrock - Faust (Faust IV)

Halleluwah - Can (Tago Mago)

Am Rockzipfel - Hans-Joachim Roedelius (Durch die Wuste)

Mindphaser - Klaus Schulze (Moondawn)

Stone In - Guru Guru (UFO)

Cha Cha 2000 - La Dusseldorf (Viva)

Singet, denn der Gesang vertreibt die Wölfe - Popol Vuh (Coeur de Verre)

Negativland - Neu! (Neu!)

Phaedra - Tangerine Dream (Phaedra)

Toxicological Whispering - Amon Duul II (Tanz der Lemminge)

Darkness: Flowers Must Die - Ash Ra Tempel (Schwingungen)

Caramel - Cluster (Zuckerzeit)

Alright, so there's twelve. I wanted to go for ten different bands then I felt it'd be unfair to leave a couple of those out just for the sake of making it ten.

Oh, great, I found my master on Kraut.

I only knew Neu! and Can for years, but am slightly catching up.

Guru Guru and Cluster are ace.

I've only heard 3 Tool albums (Undertow, Lateralus and 10,000 days; still can't believe I haven't heard Aenima) but I could never get on with Undertow (I heard it after Lateralus if that means anything). I am hearing it wrong? Also, 'Lateralus' is my favourite Tool song but I guess I might be the only one...

Also: someone do a Megadeth list that doesn't include anything from Rust in Peace.

Aenima's the defining album IMO but some of my mates would say Lateralus, either way, give Aenima a go but be prepared to give it a bit of time, it's a grower. And then it'll eat you.

Oh man. This thread is going to kill me. I don't even have Undertow and I'm worried, let alone the 15 artists I've never heard a single track of in this thread.

I can't believe someone did a Kenickie list though- they only have like 30 tracks total!

Random not quite classic request: Can someone do me a list for Death Cab For Cutie?

I love Postal Service but never got in to Death Cab. Just listened to Photobooth from the Forbidden Love EP. It's awesome but they have many albums, so... tell me more...

o/\o Yup this, Aenima it's one of the few albums I can think of where my favourite track on the album has changed enough times to cover every track.

Lot of love here for Undertow too - but Tool were almost a different band back then, I'd suggest listening to in the winter - it's not summer music.

Also: someone do a Megadeth list that doesn't include anything from Rust in Peace.

Whoa wouldn't that defeat the point; you'd end up with about 7/8 mediocre tracks padding it out to 10

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

All for the second chorus! That last line is so good it makes up for the second half of the song being a complete meander.

Also, your lists were 30% gay, soz.

Mean. <_<

I adore Idioteque, it's easily one of my favourite Radiohead tracks. But the live version is so massively better than the studio version that I'd have that in a top ten.

That's quite true actually. The live version was one of the songs that got me into Radiohead, it's so wound-up and energetic. The studio version sounds far too well-mannered now (although still very good, of course).

Actually while we're here, can someone do M.I.A.? She's hardly a 'classic' so maybe three songs will do. Just, she's been so acclaimed, and I've heard the singles and don't get it.
