Can we do top 10's of the classics?

Please do, I'd love to get into some Wu but there's so much out there I've no idea where to start.

You've probably heard some of their tracks, like Gravel Pit or Triumph. I'm not even going to attempt a Wu Tang list though as it's just going to be impossible. Good luck, Cal.

Also, get hold of 36 Chambers, it's just about the best thing ever created by anyone ever. Ever.

There doesn't appear to be a top 10 for Michael Jackson, so I'm going to try.

1. Billie Jean

2. Beat It

3. Bad

4. Thriller

5. Smooth Criminal

6. Stranger In Moscow

7. Blood on The Dance Floor

8. Black or White

9. Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough

10. Earth Song

Probably missed a few out but I think that list is more or less okay.

I really enjoyed The Mix when it came out (it was the first Kraftwerk record I bought), but it's quite poorly regarded now.

Yeah some of The Mix sounds horrible and cheesy now, especially the dance beat welded onto Radioactivity....

always liked its versions of Autobahn and Trans-Euro Express though. Plus they're shorter than the originals so it saves anyone new to the stuff listening to 20 minutes of Autobahn first go!

Cease the debate, here's the real Radiohead list. :(

Street Spirit (The Bends)

Paranoid Android (OK Computer)

Exit Music (For A Film) (OK Computer)

Lucky (OK Computer)

Idioteque (Kid A)

Pyramid Song (Amnesiac)

Life In A Glass House (Amnesiac)

There There (Hail To The Thief)

Reckoner (In Rainbows)

Jigsaw Falling Into Place (In Rainbows)

Also have some Blur, mostly avoiding the big hits, and with nothing from Parklife. (Not because it makes a more interesting list, just because nothing on there is good enough. :P I wub being controversial.)

Blue Jeans (Modern Life Is Rubbish)

The Universal (The Great Escape)

Fade Away (The Great Escape)

You're So Great (Blur)

Death of a Party (Blur)

Coffee & TV (13)

Trimm Trabb (13)

On The Way To The Club (Think Tank)

Sweet Song (Think Tank)

Also The Shins. Even though they've only had three albums. Actually, listen to these and there's not much need to buy Wincing The Night Away.

New Slang (Oh Inverted World)

Young Pilgrims (Chutes Too Narrow)

Saint Simon (Chutes Too Narrow)

To conclude, an 'alternative' (ish) Pulp list (although I don't think anyone's done them yet):

Mis-Shapes (Different Class)

I Spy (Different Class)

Something Changed (Different Class)

Bar Italia (Different Class)

This Is Hardcore (This Is Hardcore)

TV Movie (This Is Hardcore)

Seductive Barry (This Is Hardcore)

Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey

One of the hardest things I've ever had to do, and it's still wrong.

Justifications on request.

Of course the next fool who tries will have totally different picks, in fact I could do another list equally as good without repeating a song.

Request: Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except For Me And My Monkey?!?!?!

Anyway, for fun, here's a list of mine that doesn't share any of yours -

Eleanor Rigby

Tomorrow Never Knows

While My Guitar Gently Weeps

For No One

I'm Only Sleeping

Help

Because

Happiness Is A Warm Gun

Yesterday

The Long And Winding Road

- and I only had to remove A Day In The Life and Strawberry Fields. And neither of us have Hey Jude.

:(

It's horrible, it's like having to choose between your kids in a hostage situation, in fact I'd choose some of these songs over my kids if I had any.

Anyway, Me and My Monkey, it's just a kick ass song with a killer base line, it was between this and Yer Blues (and Helter Skelter) as the most ballsy song on the White Album, but I went with this even though Yer Blues is probably better but this is more fun a big fuck off from Lennon about his drug habit.

For No One is one I forgot, it's a lovely song from Paul (he makes it look easy to churn out these melodies) and one that has a strong emotional history for myself. I was thinking of Cry Baby Cry which I would have picked over I'm Only Sleeping, hmmm, maybe. And in fairness I totally forgot about Tomorrow Never Knows, one which I would gladly replace anything in my list for. Like I said, too hard.

Amazingness. I was just about to come in and ask for list on those very two bands. Thanks fellas!

(With Blur it's more of a long overdue education for me, rather than a real interest in thier music. I'm from Colchester and my mum was really good friends with Dave Rowntree the drummer when they were at school. I think my mums rather biased madness over them always placed them in the "ignore" pile during my youth, but it's about time I took a look at them as a grown up to see what they were like.

FUN FACT! - Dave Rowntree knitted me a shawl)

Nine Inch Nails:

1 - We're In This Together (The Fragile)

2 - Sin (Pretty Hate Machine)

3 - Heresy (The Downward Spiral)

4 - And All That Could Have Been (And All That Could Have Been)

5 - Starfuckers Inc. (The Fragile)

6 - Last (Broken)

7 - 10 Miles High (Things Falling Apart)

8 - Big Man With A Gun (The Downward Spiral)

9 - The Great Below (The Fragile)

10 - Self Destruction, Final (Further Down The Spiral)

Also, I hated the last two albums, so that probably doesn't help.

Well... here's another alternative, again not using anything that has gone before.

And Your Bird Can Sing

You Never Give Me Your Money

Lady Madonna

Norwegien Wood (This Bird Has Flown)

I'll Be Back

While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Anthology 3 Version)

Blackbird

Fixing a Hole

Rain

Hey Bulldog

I almost posted a list before, but wasn't sure about opening the can of worms. That above is the list I came up with, except I had Strawberry Fields Forever in there instead of Rain. Otherwise the list is the same as what I did yesterday (in my head.)

Bjork

Human Behaviour - Debut

Army of Me - Post

Hyper Ballad - Post

Hunter - Homogenic

Joga - Homogenic

Frosti/Aurora* - Vespertine

Where Is The Line - Medulla

Oceania - Medulla

Triumph of a Heart - Medulla

All Is Full Of Love - Greatest Hits

*Frosti is a short (1.30) introduction that flows into Aurora. It's not strictly necessary to enjoy Aurora, but it is very good.

If the list looks a bit Medulla Heavy, substitute Oceania or Where is the line for It's In Our Hands from the Greatest Hits. In fact, it's probably just easier to get the greatest hits, it's a great introduction to Bjork. :(
