Can we do top 10's of the classics?

Loads of songs from Soundtracks and none at all from Future Days? You must be out of your tiny mind.

That's the problem with having Future Days on vinyl, hence not on the PC, hence not on the iPod, hence not heard since the dawn of man.

And Soundtracks is ace.

Motörhead

Ace of spades

(We are) the road crew

The chase is better than the catch

Deaf forever

Motörhead

Iron Horse/Born to lose

Shoot you in the back

Suicide

Orgasmatron

God was never on your side

Alright, you asked for it:

Krautrock:

Krautrock - Faust (Faust IV)

Halleluwah - Can (Tago Mago)

Am Rockzipfel - Hans-Joachim Roedelius (Durch die Wuste)

Mindphaser - Klaus Schulze (Moondawn)

Stone In - Guru Guru (UFO)

Cha Cha 2000 - La Dusseldorf (Viva)

Singet, denn der Gesang vertreibt die Wölfe - Popol Vuh (Coeur de Verre)

Negativland - Neu! (Neu!)

Phaedra - Tangerine Dream (Phaedra)

Toxicological Whispering - Amon Duul II (Tanz der Lemminge)

Darkness: Flowers Must Die - Ash Ra Tempel (Schwingungen)

Caramel - Cluster (Zuckerzeit)

Alright, so there's twelve. I wanted to go for ten different bands then I felt it'd be unfair to leave a couple of those out just for the sake of making it ten.

Rsdio, there's the first album under the Ashra name in the play sale for £3.99 if you're interested

Cheers for that :). It's one of their best too, I've got it already. Well worth £4 of anybody's money.

Edit: Sorry for the lack of umlauts on all those by the way, I feel massively idiotic for asking but how do you use special characters with Windows? Whenever I've done that alt and number pad numbers thing it hasn't worked.

If it's allowed I thought I'd take a different tack with Pavement, or if I'm just cluttering and confusing things, delete this bastard list.

Alternative Pavement:

Here - Slanted & Enchanted

In The Mouth A Desert - Slanted & Enchanted

Silence Kit - Crooked Rain Crooked Rain

Cut Your Hair - Crooked Rain Crooked Rain

Grounded - Wowee Zowee*

Grave Architecture - Wowee Zowee

Stereo - Brighten the Corners

Shady Lane - Brighten the Corners

You Are a Light - Terror Twilight

Major Leagues - Terror Twilight

Two tracks per album, no Spiral Stairs led stuff, I never thought his songs were much cop, really...

*The version recorded during the Crooked Rain era, featured on the Anniversary Edition second disc is also superb in its own way.

With Can you're best off just getting the three albums I mentioned and going from there rather than messing around downloading individual tracks, the same could probably be said about a lot of these lists but those three are just total masterpieces and they're easily downloadable if you want to try before you buy (or not buy if you're naughty).

Prince

Controversy

Kiss

I Would Die 4 U

Let's Go Crazy

Purple Rain

7

Dirty Mind

Erotic City

Sign O'The Times

Raspberry Beret

Sometimes It Snows In April

Starfish & Coffee (Just a perfect little pop song that never gets any credit)

A mix of the well known and ones that don't get airplay

Absolutely. Along with 'Controversy' it shares top position in my list of favourite Prince songs :D

Maybe some of you who are RllmukFM could use a session to play one of these 10-song lists?

There's always the slow method of Start > Run >"charmap" and copying and pasting from there. I don't know how anyone could memorise those Alt+0xxx knumbers...

Can someone do Frank Zappa? Looking at the Wiki it says he released 57 albums so it might be a tall order. Cheers.

You Didn't Try To Call Me

Peaches En Regalia

Willie The Pimp

My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama

Joe's Garage

Watermelons In The Easter Hay

i think alternate lists are fine. just gives you somewhere to go if you dig the first 10. My soulseek list has just expanded massively!

Or someone here could always sign up and do a slot of their own! :D

I do play a fair few of these artists in my shows and sometimes in 'artist retrospective' sets, and (like most people) if I were to / have had to put an artist set together I'd very likely play a very different 10 tracks than those chosen here in most cases. It's all a bit subjective innit? So come along and do your own set, man...we're a bit short of active DJs these days (and, it has to be said, active listeners. Harrumph).
