Has anyone else played Cantaloop? A single (mainly) player game book thing - basically a point and click adventure where you wander about, collect items, use the, etc.

Only got it today but played the whole thing -  very pleased with it!

This looks very interesting - I noticed it's rated as 16+ - is this just for the difficulty or is there anything unsuitable in the content for a child (my son is 10). I'd be looking to go through it with him probably.

I'm not sure why it's 16+ in terms of content, although could be unsuitable for 10. Keeping in mind a key mechanic is that I haven't read everything in the book - it could be that there's some saucy business in something I missed or forgot.

There was an instance where you (light spoiler about an item you can pick up and what it's used for)...

Spoiler

Buy some condoms to use as a balloon

So I suppose that might be a thing.

Fair enough... I'll probably give it a miss (for now!)

That will have to remain a secret until a certain article pops up on Polygon tomorrow (hopefully!), but I can at least say that these aren't going to be the only bonus content for the campaign.

Ok, quite as soon as you said, but it is up there now:

Going to head down to UKGE next week but can only make the Sunday, i'm assuming that Sunday's are still decent (only knowing from other shows that people can start clearing out early)?

What is the secret rllmuk handshake?

I've put a post in the Newcastle upon Tyne Meet Up thread about a possible game day this year. If you'd like to come to Newcastle and play a load of boardgames for a day then let me know. To begin with just looking to see how much interest there is and try and find some suitable dates.

Anyone using Mayday Premium Sleeves?

I've been doing a lot of sleeving so bulk bought some packs. Out of 20 packs of the 63 x 88, the equivalent of 2 whole packs (so around 100 sleeves) are dinged up pretty bad straight out of the pack. The outer packaging is intact, so it looks to be done at manufacture and looks almost like an angled point impact, commonly in the mid-top right or mid-bottom left.

Seemed like a really high number of defects. Is this standard for the sleeves or did I get chucked a bad batch?

Damn, thanks both.

I've gone back and looked through some others which I'd bought the start of the year for Marvel Champions. Exact same problems for a lot of the cards but I hadn't noticed. Same retailer but unlikely to be the same batch as the recent purchases (I'm assuming at least, based on how much time has passed).

Hard to photo it but looks like this (these are two different cards);

Others have horizontal drag lines across them (impossible to photo but if you catch them in the light you can really see them).

The final tally on this was that the equivalent of 11 whole packs out of the 20 were unusable with dents, dings and crumples.

I'm hoping the retailers going to take these back and refund me cos I'm really not impressed with what's effectively over a 50% failure rate. ☹️

Been using a terrific app called "BGG catalogue" to keep a track of my collection and plays. Highly recommended! It syncs up with your BGG profile.

I became a bit obsessed with adding all my 'previously owned' games, to see how many things I've bought, barely played and sold...

My stats:

Owned: 62 games + 7 expansions (about 45 at home and the rest at school for club)

Previously owned: 85 games!

Also bought Mysterium.

Oh god this is one of my faves!! It's fucking HARD though, especially if you are the spirit!  You may find you might need ot tweak even the 'easy' rules to make it a little less frustrating for the group.  It's a very cool game though, great concept.

I have a question rllmuk unpluggers: what's your favourite (small) game to sneak into a pub and make people play, even if they're not really that into board games?

My list is probably:

Skull

The Mind

Zombie dice

Any other good suggestions? :) I really want to get Scout! because it looks another good potential for that vibe.

I bought Betrayal at House on the Hill 3rd Edition. It says there are 12 characters but there are only 6 minis...is that normal???

Yeah. It's the same with the 2nd Edition. Each mini represents two characters. Both of those characters can't be in play at the same time because they're on opposite sides of the same "character sheet".

Is that judge dredd one any good?

Is a busy period for games for me...

New release: 3000 Scoundrels https://unexpectedgames.com/3000-scoundrels-main

The first game unexpected games I really like the look and sound of, pre-ordered. Has a coup-esq playing cards for actions but you can claim cards you do not have.

Kickstarter delivering: flamecraft

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cardboardalchemy/flamecraft

Some good reviews have poped up, just waiting for delivery. Arts great too.

Just grabbed: Wonderland's War (retail)

A deluxe kickstarter reprint is coming soon, I just want the deluxe tokens from the KS and happy to grab the retail version. Bag building, area control, dark Alice world fun.
