Reading the rules for Pandemic Legacy for the weekend.

All this talk of tearing up cards, or putting stickers/writing on the board...it's giving me stress. That's not how you treat board games!

Maybe this wasn't for me...

It'll be fine. I'm terribly precious about my board games. I did tear up one card but most of them got thrown into the box under the insert, it didn't feel quite as bad.

Putting stickers on the board is fun. Just play it, you'll love it.

You just have to adjust your mindset, and realise that's what you have to do to play the game. Jon's right – once you start, you'll love it. I count playing through the entire campaign as one of my best ever boardgaming experiences.

That’s my view as well.

Don't look at it as destroying the game as you play it, look at it as creating a game that is unique to you. The way it evolves as you play through the campaign is what makes it special, and destroying or stickering cards and writing on the board is an intrinsic part of it.

Like Jon, I'd be absolutely mortified if components from any of my other games got messed up, but with this it's essential – it's what makes it what it is.

Ha. Yeah I'm really looking forward to it just from reading the rules - but yeah still feels wrong.

[I've outsourced it to another guy at the group. He's not a big emotionally softy like me]

I'll be at Essen on Wednesday! :omg:

There's 5 of us going together this year and it will be somewhat emotional as a good friend passed away a few weeks ago (Cancer sucks) and he was due to come with us.

Anyone else there this year?

Gah, bloody Through the Ages app. The ai colludes like bastards- just had a game where despite 2 other ai being behind me militarily and ahead of me culturally I was still the target of every attack by ai 4 :(

We're selling Holding On: The Troubled Life of Billy Kerr. It's my first proper game for the company, and we've sold over 500 in the first couple of days. Should sell out tomorrow, hopefully!

Looks like an interesting game, was that you doing the interview on Beasts of War? Might go down well in my group who are almost exclusively doctors (or maybe a postman's holiday!). The protagonist shares my surname too.

So I picked up mice and mystics from here a little while back, partly to play with the little one and partly to get some mini painting practice in.

Started on roaches and rats yesterday - quite pleased with the results for a complete novice.

Was hoping to get the rest under coated today but the rain has put a stop to that :(

Yay was dry this morning so I got the primer on and have spent the afternoon working on the monsters. Now just the hero mice to get working on (a couple have been started in the background)

Guru's write up of Rise of Queensdale has had me lusting after that game ever since. English versions have now been released on Amazon.co.uk. I've got one on the way and I'm very excited.
