Halo 3 playlist updates

WHAT.

They're not resetting actual numerical ranks, are they? I thought it was just an additional playlist military rank they were adding? I hope not, I hadn't reached a plateau for a few of the playlists.

It's all going I think. Not sure if they'll be clearing xp or not though. I doubt they'd clear that.

To ruin the shit out of you, and thus feel better about themselves. Pricks.

I think the only way to possibly stop new account douchebags is to make DLC compulsory for matchmaking and tie the DLC to one account obviously. Not ideal though.

Stats reset tomorrow, should be an interesting few weeks.

I read this is exactly what they're going to do - so if double accounters want to play ranked they'll need to buy the DLC for their secondary account and as they're all little cocksuckers with no life or cash they're fucked.

Hopefully.

amazing! All they need to do now is make the sword entirely melee based (no slidey lock on shit) and have the sniper rifle only fire if you're zoomed in or remove the reticule when unzoomed (thats right, goodbye no scoping!) and I'd be a happy douche.

The sword would be worthless without the lunge. And the sniper was nerfed good and proper from 2 with the effective removal of sweep sniping, I don't think it needs further weakening.

Where did we read that DLC will be tied to one account? I'm surprised if they're allowed to do that. I would have thought the MS rules on DLC aren't changable, especially for content which has already been released and sold with one set of terms and conditions.

Don't get me wrong, I admire a good sniper but to me it should be a weapon that is only effective at distance not almost as powerful as a shotty when up close. I'm probably just sore because I'm shit at no-scoping.

As for the sword, well i hate it anyway so making it worthless would suit me down to the ground. But without the lunge it could still be lethal at close quarters if you got the drop on someone.

I dunno about the DLC being tied to an account, tbh I don't think I have read anywhere that it is. Yoshimax?

It pisses me off too that it is as effective as a shotty up close but it makes sense and I don't see what they can do about it. Just don't get with melee range of anyone with a sniper I guess.

By far and away my biggest annoyance in Halo 3 is the rear angle headshot box. You can BR someone from behind quite a few times in a headshots game and not take them down for them to turn on you and take you out straight away.

I've always believed that people should be easier to kill from behind, not harder. This applies to melee, why shouldn't it apply any other time. At the least they should make the head hitbox the same size from all angles.

I know what you're getting at, because it can be annoying as fuck shooting someone from behind but they don't die. But it's an excellent tactic to use - looking at the floor as whilst heading off to cover has saved my arse hundreds of times. Getting a jump in there as well helps to reduce the angle even further.

Gonna be a bit annoyed if this stats reset is real. Some of the playlists with lower populations won't ever settle properly from this, I reckon.

 See that just emphasises the stupidity of it.

They're not just resetting, they are changing the system entirely. Might help or hinder the levelling out, we don't know yet.

Yeah I'm pretty pleased with that too, I never got on with BTB. 6v6 should be way more manageable.

It's the Halo sweet spot. Big enough to use proper team tactics, have one group defending/one attacking, and that sort of thing, whilst still being small enough so you can have a good idea of what's happening on the map as a whole most of the time. 6v6 was brilliant on 2 until they got rid of it. The fact that there won't be a ranked BTB for all the american kids who think bigger is always better means it should have a good population, too.

I don't see the problem with smaller head hitboxes from the rear. The alternative would just mean more deaths from people you can't see behind you before you can reach cover. Where's the fun in that?

So because you can't see it means that you have some kind of inpenetrable armour plate around the back of your neck. I find it much more frustrating shooting someone in the head who doesn't die than being shot from behind. I can't say I've ever noticed it as bad in any other game. Even if you agree that there should be a difference, it shouldn't be as much as it is.

Haven't really got time to check it now on b.net, but I'm pretty sure the plan is only to introduce in-playlist EXP rankings. I'd understood both your in-playlist skill level (eg your 46 in doubles) and your 'overall' rank (eg your Brig Grade 2 rank) would remain the same.

There's a flaw with this. It would mean that the Legendary/Mythic DLC would theoretically never become free.
