people who don't want to pay for three shit maps

Uh. I can understand you not wanting to pay for maps, but they're definitely not shit. Standoff is one of the best Halo maps ever made, Rat's Nest is really good, and some of the things created on Foundry are amazing.

Fair enough. All I had heard about them is that Rat's Nest was "shit" and judging by the screens i've seen, there's about four power weapons and the Ghost in one long corridor, which I imagine in matchmaking leads to very annoying, one-sided games? Also everyone says the default Foundry (which is the only version currently in MM) is absolutely diabolical. I'll admit I haven't heard anything negative about Standoff, so maybe my comment was a bit off.

Besides, I was a bit tipsy when I wrote that post, but most of what I said still applies.

So! Another Double EXP weekend is upon us: Team Swat starts tonight at 8pm. Who would like to play some headshot-focused games tonight?

Reminder of the announcement:

Beginning March 20th at noon will be the return of Team SWAT in the Social, DoubleXP variety. Team SWAT is an old Halo 2 gametype where players have no shields, increased body health and do not have the luxury of radar. This eight-player maximum hopper will be completely Team Slayer focused with the SWAT ruleset. This weekend playlist will be available from March 20th at noon until March 24th at 12:01 AM (all times Pacific).

I played a few MLG games last night. Wasn't too bad. It was mostly level 40 plus players though. Won the first 3 and then lost about 4 in a row mainly due to quitters. I don't think the connections were great last night.

From Bungie.net

So, for May, the full-time playlist load out will look a little like this:

Hardcore

• MLG

• SWAT

Ranked

• Lone Wolves

• Team Slayer

• Team Objective

• Team Doubles

• Ranked Big Team

Social

• Rumble Pit

• Social Slayer

• Social Skirmish

• Big Team Social

• Multi Team

• Rocket Race

DLC

• DLC Slayer

• DLC Objective

Eagle-eyed readers will note the omission of Team Control. This was not an accident; Team Control will be retiring as of the first of May.

Enjoyed some fiesta this weekend. I know it's a silly playlist and all that but it produced quite a few proper lol moments.

I always thought it was a laugh on Halo 2, yet to try it on 3.

I've found the Team Duals games good too. Have never been fan of the dual wield system as a part of the game but if it's all you can do it seems to make more sense.

I recall Fiesta being a combination of WTF and LOL, leaning more towards the latter as I always seemed to spawn with a rocket launcher. ;)

Duals on the other hand was unredeemably shit and made for protracted, boring games (see Team Duals on Gemini). Duals on Halo 3 is worse, in part due to the nerfed pistol and the lack of dual-wielding for needlers such that every battle has to be close range, though even that is dwarfed by the pistols only variation.

So, the MLG playlist is up now. I think I'll leave it for a while though.

I know this is from ages ago, but the thing aboiut that match is that if you look at the link the blue team actually grabbed the red flag more than the red team grabbed theirs. I realise that this doesn't take into account how long the flag was held for, or just how in control each team were when they had it each time, but it says kill farming to me. Which drives me away.

What do you mean by kill farming? The red team let the blue team grab the flag just so they could get more kills? What would be the point of that in an objective game? :(

From Shishka, Bungie's matchmaking dude: the playlist will contain Team Snipers, Team Shotty Snipers, Sniper KoTH, and Team SpLasers.

Team SpLasers is not the same as Laser Tag, which was in Legendary Brawl. It's Laser primary, Magnum secondary, both infinite ammo, score to win of 25. Oh, and it's AMAZING.
