Temporary pinning of the arm to see how it'll work. Can't stick it on anytime soon due to the wolf pelt and cape that need to go on beforehand, but at least I can see it. And what I need to do to tidy it up :P

How do you guys store your figures? I’ve got a ton to paint and have moved places so don’t have a kallax storage area anymore (need to jam them into a small space really). Have put little magnets on the bottom which may help?

That’s a lovely and neat paint job and a great photo.

I assume the silver metal is lead belcher? I hate that paint. It seems to glob up and go on too thick no matter how much you thin it. I read that thinning it with contrast medium rather than water keeps the pigment more cohesive, but I also read that paints such as Vallejo steel etc are far better so I’m going to switch to one of them.

I think it varies enormously. Brass Scorpian is a GW metal and that is as good as any I’ve used. But if I need a very bright silver, then Vallejo model Air’s Chrome is the best I’ve used.

As always, a healthy mix and test is recommended.

This bastard is going down in the next few days I reckon. And then I can play with the base(s) - which will be a pleasure compared to the squinting I've been doing with Horus himself :P

He's coming along nicely @JoeK

One of my projects for this year is to paint one of each legion in preparation for painting a full army at some point. I enjoyed painting this little guy more than I thought I would. I think it helped that I treated him like any other model rather than forcing any particular style or prioritizing efficiency. I also decided against blending as I find visible layers very useful for understanding the geometry of a model.

I do need to work on my edge highlighting, I've gotten quite sloppy of late, and these really are the best model for practicing technical skills.

I had to put the head on...

The head is such a gorgeously sculpted part of the figure. Thankfully, by some piece of luck it was also a pleasure to paint. It definitely highlights areas of the figure I need to tweak here and there, and I'm still yet to properly figure out the paint on the mace, but I'm happy that the focal piece of the figure works, and I'm kind of looking forward to playing with the base now and getting him set down and looking evermore angry!

That’s great @Cocky, your style is super recognisable even with a fairly generic mini.

That’s looking fantastic @JoeK. You’ve done a great job making such a busy model so readable.

Not been painting much myself besides finishing off some Stormcast stuff I started over a year ago (and which I’d handle totally differently now), due to having had a vicious cold:

But I’ve taken on a commission to paint Grinkrak’s Looncourt and I’m slightly thinking I shouldn’t as the amount of tiny details across 7 minis is quite daunting. It’s a never ending list of squigs, characters on other characters, mushrooms, lizards, etc, and also a wooden gate which doesn’t really have sculpted wood grain, so it’s going to need some freehand.

I think I’d love to paint one of ‘em!

Amazing work, Joe, Cocky, and Davros!

@Davros sock drawer - I bought a set of Grinkrak's Looncourt last week, the first minis I've bought in a while. I really like GW goblins, and the intersection of Goblins and a Warhammer Underworlds warband proved to be irresistible to me. Especially since there's one guy tooting a horn. Louise Sugden, who I mentioned a few pages back, painted him with the actual notes of Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up freehanded on the bit that hangs beneath his trumpet. 😂

I have to say that if money wasn't always required for other fun things, then I'd be first in line to buy all the Underworlds figures - they're great fun.

Which reminds me that I've still got a skeleton pack to paint one day!

Yes, I follow her too and saw that!

I look forward to seeing how yours turn out!
