Nice! The yellow really pops.

Also, I approve of your clean rim.

Thanks! If I did the scheme again I think I'd shade with a more orange colour than Seraphim Sepia but pleased with how it turned out.

Got the magnifying glasses just as I was finishing him. They're a game changer!

Really nice, super SHARP! I have the Indomitus box, started painting one Ultra Marine and gave up for a future version of myself with better brush control. No idea how people do whole armies of them.

They really are!

Unfortunately they don’t steady your hands, which would be useful for edge highlighting. This is as neat as I can get currently:

That's rubbish, start again.

Opinions sought - I'm putting together a small Carchardons force and need  Tyberos model. These two are both pretty sweet. if you were making a Space Sharks force which would you choose?

that bottom model is absolutley enormous iirc. i think they're both pretty good for different reasons other than Tyberos's typical stupid palm chainsaws. not keen on the silly belt shark mouth on the top model, but other than that i think he fits more with the GW aesthetic

Son #2 is about to start high school, and found out that he cna set up clubs there if he wants, so he's keen to get a wargaming group going. So to help I'm painting up some Imperial Fists for him.

To help him get started, if they haven't already, see if he can get his school to sign up to the Warhammer Alliance programme.

Jeremy Vine had a phone in on his Radio 2 show earlier today - "Are you addicted to Warhammer?" The clickbaity title aside, it was a total love-in, with caller after caller espousing the virtues of the hobby and it's positive effects on people's mental health. Vine seemed totally on board by the end. I was going to phone in and see if they were interested in my story of getting made redundant in lockdown and ending up painting Space Marines for money, and to try and sneak in an advert for Siege, but by the time I decided to do it, Vine had pivoted to talking about dead crabs, and I didn't really have anything to add to that discussion.

I’m looking at my pile of shame and realising that some of these minis are never getting painted. Not this year, not next year. Never. Not because there’s anything wrong with them per se, just that there are too many almost identical squads of Stormcast or Hobgrots or whatever, and I’m just always going to favour painting a character model or one example of a faction than painting batches of minis.

I’m enjoying the hobby more and more, but mainly when I focus on a single miniature and I think that if I ditch all this plastic baggage I would focus even more on improving my techniques and learning new ones. I’d also feel more inclined to buy a specific miniature with the intention of painting it, rather than thinking “I can’t buy this, I already have dozens of unfinished minis!”

So yeah, I may well be offering up some free sprues soon. In the meantime, here’s one finished Space Marine from a set of 7 I’ll probably never paint:

@Davros sock drawer that camo looks brilliant, though completely stupid next to his bright blue armour

The effect you’ve done on the binoculars is equally awesome.

With regards to your point about painting the same minis over and over, that’s why I love the necromunda gangs and warcry war bands - 10 minis in dynamic poses, no two the same, lots of personality and great fun to paint.

Thanks. Yeah, it’s like “do you want to be seen or not?”

I like the Necromunda stuff a lot, but it’s a perfect example of why I need to get shot of the huge pile of Stormcast etc I’ve got. I can’t justify buying more interesting minis while these less interesting ones are cluttering up my house and brain.

Totally understand. As per my pictures above, I have a LOT of minis in my backlog (mad since I’ve only been collecting them what, four months? Five?). But they are all these little war bands with individual characters you’re meant to name as opposed to the league of votann set I’ve got and not opened which, as cool as they are, are like 40 of the same dude with slightly different hats.

As mentioned I’m clearing out stuff I’ll never paint. If anyone fancies any of this for the price of the P&P, it’s yours.

Massive pile of Age of Sigmar scenery, part-painted. Some of it practically finished (like the Sigmar statues), some just primed. Some with experimental marble effect!
