Just watched the long trailer for Ishin, man it's like a proper Yakuza baddy reunion ! All three of the Zero antagonists is really cool to see again !

They have the most amazing faces, along with equally amazing voices. To be honest, the Yakuza games were the ones that made me change my mind thoroughly about how good Japanese voice-overs can be in games. I might not understand the language much, but there's so much power in those lines you kind of know what's happening nonetheless.

Brilliant stuff indeed.

I feel a Yakuza run through is imminent.

Same reason they re-did Yakuza 1 first before doing Yakuza 2. Ishin is the first game. Kenzan will most likely follow unless Ishin Kiwami is a total flop.

Unless I'm mistaken (definitely possible), Kenzan came first by a good few years?

Nope, you're right on that point.

Kenzan is the first game. Came out in 2008 on PS3.

Ishin came out on PS3 and PS4 in 2014.

My PC collection is complete…Judgment and the sequel are fully Steamed and awaiting installation. I have no idea when this will happen, but they’re there.

I have justified this purchase because my car passed it’s MOT today when I was absolutely sure I’d need to spend a wedge on it.

I have no head for finance.

I really need to get back on the horse with this series, I absolutely love it but mainlined too many back to back too quickly and fell off on the fight with a bear in 5.

Really don't want to start five again from the beginning but I have no clue what's going on. I guess I could watch the cutscenes for act 1 on YouTube...

Similar position really. I'm halfway through 2 and I need to start playing again. I got halfway through 6 as well but felt like I need to do it in order...

I think I've come to the realisation that the main story isn't written that great and really it's the character moments that shine.

The mysterious who-dunnit stuff is almost always contrived and impossible to deduce... And the serious Yakuza land-grab betrayal stuff sets the scene but the ins and outs are not so important so I should stop worrying about keeping track and just enjoy the ride!

I will love you forever Ghost of Tsushima

Yep. It made huge waves in Japan and among devs there too - I'm sure there was a Famitsu article which listed all these developers personal GoTY and Ghosts came up again and again.

Been playing 3 after a bit of a break after completing Kiwami 2.  I don’t think the drop in polish is made any less jarring by a lot of the stuff pre going back to Kamurocho being super tedious. Chapter 4 especially, which is basically “hey Kiryu you need to go back to Kamurocho…but first go find this dog….then go back and forth for items three times…..then have a game of baseball….then go do some shopping”.  It’s just really drawn out and not interesting.  It does pick up a little after, but it does feel quite rough up to then.  Also a lot of the mini games are not that great.  Golf especially feels bad, much worse than the later games, which sucks when you have to do it as part of the story.

I was tempted skip straight to 4 after the umpteenth time on chapter 4 I was asked to do some bullshit errand before I could leave, but I really want to have played all of the series and it’s not that long really….

I just remembered this banger boss theme from 3, hope you didn’t skip it in the end.

Dat’s gangsta

Funny thing is that at least in the west, Nintendo is a lot more 'anything goes' than Sony. There's loads of creepy as fuck soft porn stuff on switch while Sony loves a bit of censorship.

I'm very tempted to rebuy the judgement games on Steam so I can play them on deck, never finished either of them 🤔

Finally made it past Haruka and onto Akiyama. Hated the dance battles, hope I don't have to go back to them.

I quite liked it initially as a change of pace, but it got a little samey after a while and it was a shame that Akiyama's role was diluted.

I can't deny that I still love 'So Much More' though. Especially with her 4 weird uncles chanting along:
