Slightly concerning on no Judgement news.

It could be seen as very good news. They wreren't going to do a sequel because the main actor didn't want a PC version in case it was modded to change his look. Now they are past that there's a good chance they will get more games lined up.

I've not played the Judgement games yet, but was hoping they would continue with one of the side characters.

I'm still on Yakuza 5.

That's quite a bold choice to rename the series here and continue the numbering. Is there a reason to not keep with Yakuza?

Their current localisation team is by far the best in the videogame business. They do incredible work. Right from the start of their brilliant work, I think it was with either Zero or 5, they started fixing up leftover wonky translations from the older games (names of people and places, mostly) - this culminated in Yakuza 7 which was smartly called Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Seems obvious now, but up until then I couldn't imagine that they would be able to change the title itself to be more faithful to the original Japanese writing - I thought it was genuis and also obviously something that this team would want to do given their approach to localising the games.

I never thought they'd have the balls or be able to convince Sega to change the title wholesale to Like a Dragon though. I really thought it would remain a subtitle and at best also the title of any spinoff games. But no those mad bastards pulled ot off.

Whatever you think of this new title, you have to be impressed that they were able to do it. They even added an 8! Crazy.

It’s totally the wrong thing to do though. They’ve been called Yakuza in the west for over 15 years, have a lot of titles in the series now called Yakuza and it’s at the height of its popularity, when more people than ever know it’s called Yakuza.

🤷‍♂️

I absolutely love the way that everything these Devs do is filled with joy and enthusiasm and just makes me smile ear to ear! Late to the party as working all day today, so catching up with it all now - Ichin looks amazing.

Judgment on PC - oh my yes indeed. I almost spat tea out when I saw this, as I'd just assumed it was never going to happen. I'm toying with the idea of immediately shelling out £80+ for the collection.

Nothing else come close to a Yakuza showcase. Or Like A Dragon. Whatever, it's all fucking brilliant, and I'm happy.

Edit: Just witnessing the most amazing entrance of the Japanese actors. Possibly the greatest thing I've seen this year. Wow.

Edit Edit: What a wonderful presentation. This has put everything else into the bin. Even if for some unfathomable reason you're not a fan of the series, the fashion on display is outstanding. I now want to buy a sharp suit.

Anyone know why they are redoing Ishin but not Kenzan? Sorry, I didn't actually watch all the guff yesterday.

Same reason they re-did Yakuza 1 first before doing Yakuza 2. Ishin is the first game. Kenzan will most likely follow unless Ishin Kiwami is a total flop.
