So they are actually going to do a time jump at some point then?

Looking at the episode guide on Wikipedia, the next three episodes cover 6pm-9pm, leaving only two episodes left for the season. So maybe a flight to somewhere far flung with Jack HALO jumping out of a plane straight into a war zone for a double episode finale of death and destruction!!

I'm predicting time jump but not going anywhere but bringing someone in. And I'm thinking Tony...

Grief, this is so bad but so funny and entertaining. Shame it's such a shallow season, really feels like it's too close-knit but whatever, I want to see some more shit exploding.

Groundskeeper will be fucking furious.

Why did they need facial recognition software to identify the face of POTUS?

Yep, I think the pitch will definitely need re-turfing after that! Bonkers how much our own government is kept out of the loop with regards to stuff happening on our own turf (no pun intended). I can imagine Stephen Fry sat in the old boy's club, drinking tea, and doing a spit-take. "The fucking president did what?"

Honestly, if an explosion doesn't rip apart the clock faces of Big Ben at some point, I'll be disappointed.

I thought it was rather amusing when the President asked to be secretly escorted to the middle of Wembley stadium. Sure thing! I'm sure no-one will notice when the president of the USA wanders into the stadium, but just in case let's land a fucking helicopter in the car park. :)

Good stuff though, reality warping writing aside.

Okay, I think that episode finally went too far in the plausibility stakes...

..there's no way on Earth a fellow as decent and honourable as this James Heller chap would ever have gotten the Presidential nomination, let alone actually win the election.

Is was never this bad or silly before was it? Was it?! Some of the stuff this reason just makes you cringe beyond belief.

MGS radar on phone. Ridiculous VFX of the pitch blowing up. And Target Destroyed. lol

It has always been silly. This is 24, it certainly isn't bad. I dont find anything cringe worthy as it is pure entertainment at the moment. This is the strongest the show has been for a while.

That was brilliantly stupid! 'Target Destroyed'.

Best season forever and 12 eps means none of that mid-season lag we used to get.

Yeah, this is ludicrous but great. It lacks some of the nerve-shredding tension of earlier seasons, but that's probably just due to over-familiarity with the material rather than anything the creators are actually doing wrong.

One question:

If Adrian has been paying off Navarro, why on Earth would he let Chloe be tortured at the CIA sub-station in Episode 1?

Pretty sure they did the explosion effects with one of them rubbish apps that let you blow up your cat/brother/whatever shite you record on your phone.

What I'm saying is that they looked awful. This one and the ones when Jack was driving away from the drone.

That shot of the pitch blowing up is going to be used in so many world cup gifs.

Heller will be getting replaced by Hodgson at 9:45 tonight.

Yeah it's cheesy and times but it's always been like this. 24 was one of the first tv shows of it's kind and well, things have moved on since then. Homeland pretty much is a refined 24 (infact season 2 was a bit too much like 24 with some of it's sillyness) thankfully season 3 fixed that.

I'm glad it's back, but it does remind me of how far TV has come.

I actually didn't think the effects had been too bad this series until the pitch explosion, which was awful.

Great ep, though. It's still silly, exciting, escapist fun. Nothing wrong with that.
