You should try heading over to DogzOnAcid and checking stuff out there. They sell dnb MP3s too and you can stream tracks on there just to get a listen.

That's my friend's website - in fact Pendulum lived in his flat for a while but I think they kind of fell out... something about not putting their subsequent album to Hold Your Colour on his label or something.

What are Pendulum up to now? I'm getting old and out of touch. Any good releases since Hold Your Colour and that immense voodoo people remix?

Newest stuff i've seen by them is a re-released Hold Your Colour with a few bonus tracks, bit disappointing really. Might check out Aphrodite though.

Doesn't that site have something to do with Fresh?

Pendulum wise make sure you know the tunes Machochist and The Vault - possibly their best.

The guy that has stuck out for me recently is TC - all his recent tunes are wicked. Try Rockstar, Flatline, Deep, Jump - tunes you can't not like.

Other than that try artists - Chase and Status, Bassline Smith, Nosia as mentioned, Fresh, G-Dub, Taxman.

Pendulum.... eek.

Well ... I suggest you get Still Grey, Another Planet, Distress Signal.

The rest of it in my eyes is commercial cheesy dnb.

I'm not being a snob, just saying this as a Drum & Bass DJ.

Alot of good stuff is coming from the likes of Noisia, Chase & Status, Subfocus.

The TC stuff is a bit hit and miss in my eyes. If you like your jump up i suggest Hazard, G Dub, Taxman, Modified Motion, TC.

The fact TC is fun and cheesy is a good thing. Personally I like the harder end with stuff like Technical Itch, Dylan, Current Value - probably a bit too noisy for most. I agree that Pendulum have got rather commercial of late, doesn't do it for me.

There's nothing wrong with cheesy, but I draw the line long before the stultifying idiocy of 90% of DnB in 2007. Pendulum, TC and the like are nothing but braindead clunkers. Jungle could be cheesy and serious chinstroking business in the course of the same tune. Now it's mostly lockstep that owes more to Rock and Trance than Jungle. Pendulum are basically a rock band, and a pretty bad one at that. As for the liquid stuff, it mostly sounds like smug, big-room house from the 90s. Basically, it can nearly all fuck off.

That's not to say there's not some good stuff being made. Here's a free album that's better than all that maximised, linear crap:

Naphta - Grande Illusions

More good stuff here at Bassbin, and Subvert Central.

Sorry for being so negative, but this is a sore point for me, and i've always thought you should be frank about music. No offence intended!

I saw Pendulum at Bestival 2006, and they were fucking rubbish. It was the most monotonous drum 'n bass set I've ever heard, it was just the same beat for an hour. Plus, it was rammed with sweaty sixteen year old pikeys off their tits on speed. Shite.
