Prediction: teenage killing next year, Manhunt 2 placed at the centre.

GAME employee sells game to 12 year-old (through parent or someone), record sales, and Rockstar up the ante on the next one, which will also be irresponsibly aimed at misbalanced 12 year-olds (again).

I'm confused. Take Two and Rockstar asked developers to stand up against censorship for games to be considered a legitimate art form, but now they've censored their game so that they can actually make money out of it. So by their actions they're confirming that Manhunt 2 isn't art, even though their chairman Strauss Zelnick said the opposite! Why would the highly paid executive brought in to bail out a multimillion dollar international publisher lie about something like that?

because GTAIV got delayed and they realised at the end of the day that they are a business with no product to sell?

A youtube I saw raised a valid point about Manhunt 2's ban. They were reviewing The Darkness and shown footage of some of the executions. Basically, that's on par with whatever Manhunt 2 is intending in terms of violence. The only thing that hinders Manhunt is the context of it.

Still not getting Manhunt 2, though. PS2 as well as Wii, right?

So they probably just added voiceovers that go "Even though he was a disgusting child molester who deserved it, I felt I went a little bit too far by removing his spine piece by piece while he was still alive, and periodically amputating the parts of his body which I had just put to sleep thus. That wasn't really on."

In this way, the content is preserved while the 'unremittingly bleak' tone is considerably lightened, eh folks?

That wasn't really enough, I feel, in retrospect."

Then, after the patch.

They've added "You've Been Framed" style comedy sound effects and canned laughter.

Or just went for broke and put a massive banner over the bottom of the screen saying "This is fantasy violence and should be taken as such." etc like in any ads for financial services. Shit, just make it full screen, all you see is some massive health warning whilst you can hear the SFX. Yes, that should end voilence forever and keep Take Two's arse covered.

It's a modifed version, an uncut version is going to be released on the PC though.

Really? That's just bloody stupid. Surely kids have as much access to PC's in homes with internet everywhere as much as they would a Wii so how could the BBFC assume that it would be safer to release it on the PC?

I'm guessing it's due to the PC seeming more of a mature console but that's just silly.

The console manufacturers won't let AO games be released on their systems. Nothing to stop them releasing it on PC as an AO game, in the US, (if they can profitably release it given it wouldn't be stocked by some big retailers).

The AO version would presumably still be banned in the UK.

US only, no? AO rating for the PC version, M rating for the console versions.
