The Escapist: Zero Punctuation

It was a bit jarring, like. But I guess that was the point, really.

The games funnier than Yahtzee could ever aspire to.

Now that's just being silly. You're like one of those generic dickheads that crawls out of a hole whenever someone amusing gets it a bit wrong on occasion.

I'd love to "act" like Victor Lewis Smith. The "ad infinitum" show he did on BBC2 was one of the funniest things I've ever watched. He probably spent a few months making it though rather than pumping out decent stuff week after week on a tight timescale.

Meh, no I meant you being a dickhead fulltime :( Still think the Fiddy game is so ridiculous that it does itself in more than any gags by Yahtzee. I'm not having a pop at him at all, just saying that the game shoots itself down so much that him sticking the boot in is superfluous.

He's been doing these every week for nearly two years now. Any format is going to get tired after a while, especially one that's as narrow as ZP.

He should take a break and have a rethink.

Why? How many webcomics 'have a break and a rethink'? ZP is just a webcomic in video form, really. There are people who like and hate VGCats, CTrl-Alt-Del and Penny Arcade, and generally the people who don't like them don't visit them.

Entirely subjective, like any comedy really. I thought it was hilarious for a long time, but the formats getting stunningly tired for me. This is the first one I've watched in months because people said it was hilarious, but it really wasn't.

OR! Your tastes have changed and he's stayed in a similar place.

It's subjective, you know :)

Webcomics (that are any good, not dogshit like Ctrl-Alt-Del) develop and change direction over time.

I don't think ZP has 'jumped the shark' or whatever. When it's good it's still really good. Just having to do it every week (are that many games released that you can drum up strong feelings about?), and his seeming preoccupation with giving people what they've come to expect, means it does look a bit tired at times.

I know, that's what I said.

No, you said its no longer funny. What you meant was that its no longer funny to you.

Nothing wrong with that though. I used to roll around on the floor laughing my head off at the Benny Hill Show, but nowadays I just don't see what I found so funny about it. The time may come Yahtzee's sense of humour no longer matches with my own, but that time is not now & can't see it coming anytime soon as I still find the humour in ZP meshes perfectly with my sense of humour, while at the same time making some valid points about the videogames it covers.
