yeah the 1.5. That list above is great altho sadly for me ive had screen tearing on every track since this update. Had hardly noticed it before!

I have had tearing on it since day one, every PS3 game i have ever seen suffers from it and its a known limitation of the hardware - cant say the patch has made any difference that i have noticed.

My wheel is here and the pedals so i am soo looking forward to playing me some GT5 but im off to work in a min so will be a few days before i get a proper go!!

Shimmy, Is that a GT2 Fanatec? Did you go all out with clubsport shifter and pedals?

It is a Fanatec GT2, i have the shifters but using G25 pedals - upgrade to Clubsport pedals later on ;) i need a stand before i get the pedals as the ol ironing board doesnt work as well on a heavier wheel. Just researching waht to get - either the rennsport one or a wheel stand pro at mo!

My friend Rob has an actual GT2, I drove it week or so back. Minds were blown!

I have a fair few track hours under my belt and have driven a few exotics in the past.

This thing changed the way I now think about quick cars.

I was all set to finally buy an M3 Csl in the new year, I'm terrified it will feel mundane after spending time piloting the GT2!

My mate had a csl and while no gt2 it still remains a memorable car to me, not heard anything that sounds so good from the inside since and the violence of the smg gear changes when set to '11' seems to be ironed out of subsequent smg/dsg equipped cars - I loved it and remains a car in the list to own before I die!

I don't own every ps3 game made obv but I am yet to see one without tearing and have read numerous reports/reviews saying it was a hardware limitation hence so prevalent.

Not beIng someone that cares that much or has any tech evidence to prove or disprove it I just thought what was written sounds about right so took it to be true.

But please enlighten me as all knowledge is good and welcome.

The same friend had one and traded it for the GT2, had it been a Silver Grey one an not a Black, it would have gone no further thant drive!

Shimmy, how are you finding the Fanatec? I thought you'd be gushing about it to be honest. I am so tempted to get one, but I don't have pedals from any other wheel, so the £400+ price tag is one great big hurdle to overcome. But on the plus side it works with the 360 and I desperately want a wheel for that.

I only had a couple of hours on it as i was working last night, it is epic tho - the amount of setup you can do outside the game makes it very tweakable and the actual control you have is amazing. The FF is very strong compared to anything i have had before, its not shaking and rattling and gives you proper resistance etc and is sublime - its like the first time you have a decent sub and you can feel the bass and not just hear boom boom boom.

The time i had on F3 was about the best racing experience i can remember, you do feel pretty beaten up after a session as you are putting in so much more effort than on a pad an the wheel really makes the game a physical exercise - amazing feeling and you seem to have so much more control of the car so take more care with lines etc. I have not tried it with GT5 as yet as PS3 is setup in living room and with kids i cant even see the floor at the moment let alone attempt to set it up!!

I really did debate getting it but once i had decided i wanted a G27 i hit stock issues and random price rises - in the end i thought the 360 compatibility was worth the extra. I am using a set of G25 pedals, £50 on ebay so total setup was more £300 than the £500 of the clubsport pedal setup - of course i can upgrade to those in due course but so far the G25 pedals seem to do a great job so thats for the future - i need a stand next, the ol ironing board isnt cutting it really....

Good god this game is pissing me off. Classic muscle car. ?using a chevvy convertible with all upgrades, yet the AI chevvy is still faster?!?. Tried it about 10 times and narrowly lost out, on the last attempt the AI chevvy spun me out on the last straight....Grrr

Are you tuning the upgrades? Altering the gears can make a huge difference for instance.

@Shimmy - cheers for the post. You ain't making it any easier for me though....more tempted than ever now I know you can use alternative pedals...hmmmm.

I just had an afternoon with it on GT5, just get one m8 - epic epic fun ;) I have been playing around with the on wheel settings and using some suggested parameters and it transforms how the wheel feels in game, i think you could spend days just getting the wheel setting just so as it is so customisable!

GT5 defi is the better drive but it is great on F3 it's just that on GT5 you are always on the edge and because you can feel the car so much better than on a pad a mistake is usually race ending but even so i have not had so much fin in a racing game since the old GPL days many years ago!

Anyhoo, GT5 - loving it and the new challenges are great even if i am seemingly useless at them, finding it much harder with the slower cars like the mini & focus but hopefully will get some proper time with it. AI is shite as ever and the slowness in menus is grating - hope they can speed it up a bit in future updates, some peeps are fitting SSD drives to get a faster loading game - sort it out PD as thats not really a solution is it ;)
