Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Aren't you the guy that plays 30v30 or something, though? Anything more than 6 a side is stupid. My favourite games in CoD4 have always been 3 or 4 a side.

Not me, I said the maximum for me is 14vs14, 10vs10 is a good number for most maps, plenty of room yet not long periods of inactivity. 4 a side would be barren.

Another match today I witnessed something I'd never seen before, somehow the other team just got brutally pinned down whichever spawn point they were on, our team just rushed to the new one each time and we annihilated them. I've seem some one-sidedness a few times, but this was brutal.

That's still far too many. Too much going on, and impossible to stay alive for long without a healthy slice of luck. And anyone who played in our league will attest that 4v4 is far from barren. Some of our matches were like chess. Awesome. I had a 2v2 game recently and it was the most fun I'd had on CoD4 for a year. I'll stress that comms are absolutely necessary, though.

You need to really be hawked eyed, I wouldn't say there is too much going on, most teams stick together and even without the radar I can track roughly what the enemy is doing. As for staying alive, I've hit many 20+ kill streaks and often end matches with under 10 or 15 deaths with 50+ kills, although my average is usually at least half what the players with similar kill numbers are. I'm just l33t ;)

I do play sometimes on servers with lesser numbers, but I think you just get used to what you play the most, which has been 20-30 players in total for me.

I'll be buying the 360 version of MW2 to play with people from here, especially after the PC version is delayed two weeks. Gives me times to learn the maps etc. I suppose I can put up with it's slowness for a few weeks ^_^

I can't believe that I didn't know you could get on the second floor of the bombed building in Overgrown (The exposed floor facing the valley).

I saw a guy up there yesterday for the first time and figured that he'd glitched his way up as I'd never seen or been able to get there myself. Little did I know you could just climb up the wall.

I'm amazed that these maps still keep on giving, I still see people standing in new places (not glitch places). IW have a heavy task on their hands trying to beat the map selection in MW2.

I still see new things that amaze me in this game nearly every day. A sniper was prone the other day, in front of me, and I noticed not only a perfect 3D grip pattern on the soles of his boots, but a little green logo in the middle of them also. Talk about attention to detail!

It's still letting go of my cooking grenades prematurely though.

  • 2 weeks later...

I still love this sooo much!

Playing today, HC TDM on the Strike Map, I ran out from the hanger towards where the other teams spawns, threw a granade towards, managed to catch two people with it, quickly used the concrete blocks for cover, took out three more people, then called in the air strike perfectly, then the Heli, and started the game with a 20 kill streak :hmm: In the end I got around 70+ kills which was about 20 more than the next player, I came top out of both teams obviously. MW2, don't let me down :)

True dat. One thing I never noticed is when a chopper is called in and it starts firing missiles around; watching those missiles strike just outside the edge of the playable map and seeing all the debris fly up. Very cool stuff.

Just realised I've not touched this in over a week, and haven't played MP for two weeks.

Methinks I was far too late to the game.

Somehow I feel even if I started MW2 MP on day 1 it wouldn't be any better because all you experts will pick that up in about 5 minutes.

What level are you at now?

Did you get any joy with the tips we posted previously?

Not at all! I know how you feel, having come late to Halo 2 on-line and being permanently massacred, then paying the price on Halo 3 also despite being in early, but Modern Warfare is much more accessible. You'll be fighting with the best of them in double-quick time if you get in from day 1. It's much more about learning the maps than having elite skills, and we're all going to have to do that. Get in there, 'cos it's all about MW2 on-line for the next couple of years.

Dunno, both are completely different games to me. They both offer different thrills. Like different types of porn for example. Sure, they all feature dicks slamming into fannies and arses. But what COLOUR are those dicks, fannies and arses? And what is the SIZE ratio?
