Seeing as neither of us are Scouse, then it wouldn't bother me ;)

There is a difference between the leader of the country saying something about an entire group of citizens and a footballer stating a daft opinion.

Fair enough slaughter Ecclestone for it, but to investigate and punish him is bull. Unless ofcourse he did this while at training, or during a match.

Edit: What should happen to Joe Bloggs who works in Primark, if he said similar? Should Primark investigate him?

I think there would, if they said something while wearing uniform.

Footballers should know that anything they say in public is fair game. Got to take the rough with the smooth. I can imagine him being forced to put his name to an apology and pay a fine to some trust or charity or something.

Was Ecclestone in uniform when he made the tweet? If so then fine, he should be reprimanded for his actions. IF however it was outside of his working day, then no action should be taken against him from his employers.

He did however put it out there in public and should take any abuse he is given by the public, as would anyone else posting such a thing.

He's (unfortunately) a minor celebrity, he represents the club whenever he's in public. That's just how it works.

you could argue Joe bloggs at primark isn't supposed to be a public face, which at whatever level, is what a player is doing. If Joe Bloggs from Primark did it, no one would care. If a player does it, it can be seen as reflecting badly on the club by manipulative media types

Personally I'd be more concerned if it was a first team or well known reserve player.

Bit of a harsh sending off but I can see why. He clearly was going for the ball and had his eyes on it, not really his fault Parker ran into his foot. But it was high so I can know why it was a yellow.

I think I'd sub Carroll off for Kuyt or Belamy and make it 4-3-1-1
