£15m i can understand, but £12m?..i wouldn' be happy with, i guess with a fit Gerrard he would have got less time playing, as he only made the bench at the moment. I would have liked to have seen Benny or Sturridge as part of that deal.

But on the brighter sid the squad has been overhauled and looks much stronger since Jan and for what? anyone has done the maths? but it looks like only £25m net. damn good buisness if you ask me

It has been a very good transfer window for Liverpool, Meireles excepted. Lots of deadwood removed and good players brought in. Compared to a year ago, this is serious progress.

Yes looking at the players leaving only Meireles was a disappointment the rest were all just an expense.

It's done till January now it's time for the new recruits to perform and keep us in the Top 3.

Some of the outgoings are only loans though, hardly a mass purge. Between reserve players and the loans it's probably not an unusual amount of a activity.

I know it probably won't be a popular opinion in these parts but I never rated Meireles as anything other than a squad player, so I'm not arsed he's gone. It's a shame he waited until the last minute but it's nothing we can't address in January.

Meireles had a good few games but before he had those he was more like a drunken Dick Cheyney instead of a quality finisher.

If the Torres thing has taught me anything it's; trust in Kenny! He won't keep those who don't want to stay. We've easily got enough players to cover.

Meanwhile at Spurs, Modric has to put up with staying there, as rumours abound that they turned down £40m for him! Unbelievable, I doubt he's worth that much.

Kinda strange that 'arry wouldn't let an unhappy player go; he doesn't really do loyalty himself.

considering we didn't have to sell and Chelski desperately wanted to buy i would have thought that the club would have squeezed them for more than £12m

Wage Bill I guess. Worth getting him off it really.

He wanted to double his salary, I'd fucking expect some tackling for that.

Good player, some decent goals and performances but wasn't motivated enough by the 'project' and for that he can go. Chelsea's midfield doesn't exactly look steely. Can't wait for a Lucas special on him.

I can see it from his side. Already not playing every game and increased competition for a place would have had most people considering their options. I doubt he would have filled a transfer request if he wasn't being chased by a big club, and one with a manager he has played for before. Decent player, but not a necessary one. It's a good bit of business really.

In general I think its been a good transfer window for us, but personally I don't agree with the majority regarding Meireles. The one thing I didnt want was to lose both Aqua and Meireles, big shame we did. I just hope Gerrard comes back fully fit to plug that gap. Its important we have a decent bench to win those type of games that head for a draw, fingers crossed Bellamy isnt washed up too.

I think my sense of disappointment about Raul going isn't necessarily him going, more so where he's gone. £12,000,000 is a pretty fair price for a good player, but it's always disappointing when you are forced to sell a good player at a decent price to one of your main rivals <_<

My main disappointment is I think he was a good player, that fit in with the pass and move philosophy and he brought something different to the team. However, he wasn't a starter, so its not the worse thing in the world. As long as we keep injury free I'm sure we won't miss him, but thats a tall order (Especially as Gerrard isn't fit). Saying that though, we don't have Europe this season, so our depth of squad doesn't have to be quite as much as some of the other teams. Obviously the club had to reduce their wage bill as well, so that has to be taken into consideration.

It just goes to show how far we are still behind Man City, Man U and Chelsea when it comes to affording expensive substitute benches and not having to worry whether they play 3 games or 60 in a season.

Lastly though, what do people think, is losing Meireles and gaining Bellamy a positive or negative?!

I can understand having to let RM go as he handed in a request but I would have refused Craig Bellamy, the guy's a cunt, and he's shit.

Suarez is an Angel then? Imagine those two tag teaming and running down and winding up the opposition!

Some of the best players are bastards. Keane did alright, plus some butters from Liverpool's own past, and of course even being an under the radar sneaky shitbag seems to help (Giggs :P)

AnfieldIndex on twitter; Bellamy's stats last 2 seasons:

Craig Bellamy stats @ Cardiff 10/11

11 goals (1 every 273 mins)

59% shot accuracy

16% conversion rate

13 assists

Craig Bellamy stats @ Man City 09/10

10 goals (1 every 238 mins)

58% shot accuracy

23% conversion rate

8 assists

50 chances created

Excellent assists and decent chance creation.

As an aside

Under H+G #LFC spent £166,380,000 on transfers,#LFC received £194,900,000 in fees,so H+Gs actual money spent on players: £28,520,000

Mmmm, stats!
