Liverpool Football Club

He's not off the wage bill though, I highly doubt Lille are forking out his 90k as week wages.

I'd say they must be paying a substantial portion of them, especially as there was interest from other clubs. Even if it's only half, that's still an extra £45k to play with.

They're apparently only paying £30k p/w of his wage. They've also paid the club an undisclosed fee. It's still good business for all involved, though. If he manages to get fit and does well over there, then we've got a chance of selling him on without too much trouble. He's earned some respect for taking the tougher option of moving to France and having a go somewhere else, instead of just sitting on his arse at Liverpool for another season.

Maybe the owners are *really* persuasive.

Anyway, cool, no Joe Cole. Remember when people were dead excited to be getting him? What a barrel of laughs that was.

I wasn't. Last summer was depressing in every way, the football did not help.

From a BBC journo:

Update from Yossi Benayoun's representatives: "It will be Spurs, Arsenal or Liverpool. We don't know yet." #lfc #thfc #arsenal #bbcfootball
Craig Bellamy to Liverpool? From source close to player: "Just a medical in case because deal is still a long way away." #bbcfootball #lfc

I'd prefer someone else to be honest, but either one would give us more experienced attacking cover.

Oh I know, it's just a few peeps. Also funny going back and seeing people wanting Martin O'Neill! We dodged that bullet, phew. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but when you know the claim is crazy at the time there's something funny going on in people's heads.

Oh yeah I don't expect it to be a big name - they wouldn't want to sit on the bench for a start, so all the Higuaín rumours were just silly. But if, say, Suarez and Downing were to get injured, I do think we're still a little light on the bench.

Even if we don't get anyone else, it's still been an incredible summer :)

Liverpool-based journos:

Been on the cards for the best part of a week but Craig Bellamy finally at Melwood ahead of a move back to #Liverpool #LFC
I can't imagine Bellamy's talks with #lfc are going to last very long. He's desperate to return. #deadlineday

Bellamy medical - *I think* - scheduled for early evening. No deal with #mcfc as yet, which could be a hitch. #LFC

I'm thinking Sturridge for Raul might be a good deal too, with Bellamy providing cover for the right. But I don't think Sturridge would fancy swapping one bench for another.

O'Neil is the fuckin' don!

one of the complaints of us getting O'Neil was that he buys British. Seems to have worked for us so far.

i don't think Sturridge is going to even get the benchat chelsea now, whch is a shame, he can certainly do a better job than what Torres is doing atm. I take him, great cover and is good enough to push Carroll for his place in the team and every successful club need that kind of competition. If it was something like sturridge plus £10m for Raul then i'd take it, we'd get the better deal i think.

I don't want any more big money signings, i don't want us to be Man City, i doubt we have the cash either way. the club have been significantly strengthened with a £40m net outlay, seems like sensible buisness, and bellemy he'll do a great job. You think Alwaysbeclosing thinks our striker is a cunt now? he is yet to witness the cuntly three man strikeforce of Suarez, Bellemy and Carroll. They are our cunts and you better believe it!

Apparently that Russian team have bid £41 for Carroll, anyone hear that? Lee Ryder (some Newcastle journalist on Twitter) said it.

Tough one! Would be nice if the money went straight back to buy a forward but no time for that now. Can't really afford to lose him with no one there to replace him.
