Trigg. Blinkers? Definitely.

If you think that Alex Ferguson is scared of Daglish its not me who has the blinkers on.

Strange as the United fans are the first ones to moan if we post shit in their thread

the glory hunter thread is in the other direction

Awww, don't worry I'll be gone soon and you can have your thread to yourselves ;)

In all seriousness though, I don't mind fans of other teams posting in the United thread with the exception of Dino and Fate because they just like to cause a stir with their silly quips and nonsense posts. No intention of a bit of banter or discussion it would seem, which I'm all for.

Anyway I just wanted to say that while Ferguson respects Daglish I don't think for one moment he's in any way scared of him. It's hardly far fetched, really. I didn't think that was a controversial thing to say.

As an impartial observer, I don't think there's that much to pick and choose between the two clubs in terms of gloryhunting fans. Liverpool's are maybe just a little bit longer in the tooth.

Indeed.

When I was a kid in the 80's living in Berkshire almost everyone was a Liverpool fan, you wouldn't dare be a Man Utd fan as you would be laughed up. Heck even Spurs and Everton were better teams in the 80's than Man U were.

Ah but a true glory hunter changes his teams to suit. I had a mate at school who was a Liverpool fan, then Man U started winning the Prem league, and had became a fan of them. He's prob been a Chelsea and Arsenal fan and gone back to United by now!

Whatever Kelpoo. (yes i know that doesn't work as well)

Come on, man. Lackthink would have worked fine.

And yeah, bitching about glory hunters on this page is fucking thick. One of the largest fanbases in the world and all that.

Well we can't expect them to show class can we? They prove that time and again :)

When I post here it's on the basis of some possible discussion (doesn't usually work).

When you post in the United thread.. well, I don't need to say it do I? You're tedious. You can't even manage not to talk about us in your own thread.

Give over, why would he be?

Because he knew how to beat Ferguson and was one of the few managers not to fall in line with him.

You can always tell when Ferguson is scared of someone. You could see it with Wenger when Arsenal were competitive and he saw them as a threat. As soon as they lost that battling fight, they were no longer a threat and he was all chummy with Wenger rather than spitting bile and playing his "legendary mind games".

I'm sure you were all going 19 a lot. What was that in reference to?

Always be chasing.

I'm amazed by the idea that one manager would be 'scared' of another. The absolute worst that he might have is a begrudging respect. Yes it is true that he's turned the mindgames down with Wenger now Arsenal are seemingly less of a threat, but tbh he still hasn't had a good word to say about Benitez since he left Liverpool. Contrast this with his now seemingly cordial relationship with Mourinho. He probably just thinks Benitez is a bit of a cock.

In contrast to the whole world thinking Ferguson is a bit of a cock :P

22 of these were used

Team: Doni, Kelly, Carragher, Ayala, Robinson, Poulsen, Coady, Aquilani, Cole, Maxi, Ngog.

Subs: Jones, Flanagan, Insua, Degen, Carroll, Henderson, Kyrgiakos, Kuyt, Downing, Spearing, Wisdom, Wilson, Hansen, Adam.

Not really paying attention but have heard Carroll, Kuyt, Adam and Downing mentioned.

They came on for the second half. It was effectively two Liverpool teams, the first half was made up of mainly second string players and deadwood in the shop window.

Hull did look further along in their fitness in a game played on a pitch that looked slow and draining. Downing seemed to get some good crosses in and Aquilani looked decent in the first half. It was what you expect at this stage of pre-season after a far-east tour.

Did he? See I remembered the stat being something like Liverpool haven't beaten Utd for 10 games or something post those seemingly endless 1-0 Liverpool wins with a Murphy goal of the early 2000's, and that span ran basically when Benitez was in charge.

Just to check Benitez joined the Summer of 04 and left summer 2010, yeah?

Seems I wasn't that far off with the stat looking through the results.

League games:

Season----------Old Trafford----------Anfield

2004/05---------2-1 Utd---------------1-0 Utd

05/06-----------1-0 Utd---------------0-0 Draw

06/07-----------2-0 Utd---------------1-0 Utd

07/08-----------3-0 Utd---------------1-0 Utd

08/09-----------4-1 Liv---------------2-1 Liv

09/10-----------2-1 Utd---------------2-0 Liv

8 Utd wins, 3 Liverpool ones and a draw doesn't equate to "he knew how to beat Ferguson" to me.

Only talking league games but I guess you could include that 1-0 Cup win for Liverpool, though in honesty the thing I take from that game was the sickening injury to Smith and how it effected the rest of the game as nobody seemed that arsed with the match given what had just happened.

And when do you think they had a falling out? It was we started beating them. Certainly thats Benitez's view at least. He's stated the two got on until then, and the press conferences, pre game build up and post game fallouts would support that. Even Fergie had admitted to being outplayed on more than one occasion.

The fact that in 3 games out of four we made Utd look second rate suggests that Benitez did finally find the way to beat Utd. It did take a few years but those 3 games are proof themselves.

Anyone following the Hull friendly? We look a bit shit, 3-0 down!

Sometimes you'll learn more from a loss than an easy win. Confidence is high all around a wee knock won't be such a bad thing...

i still think we need at least a left back befroe the season starts. I hope the rumours that are flying around that we are on the search are true

our rivals have been keen to point out our spending recently but since the take oevr its only been £40m net in two transfer windows, so i assume there is money to spend if needed.

Shame about Spearing, he put in a good shift at the end of last season and now there are rumours that he'll be loaned out to Wolves. But i don't fancy his chances of getting into the squad with Merieles, Gerrard, Henderson, Lucas and Adam fighting for the same places

We are waay to heavy in that position and maybe it woulod be best to sell of someone who can demand a decent fee like Merieles and bring in another player in a more needed position, if i was Daglish i'd go in for Michael Johnson of City, who is being criminally neglected because of City's policy of spunking cash on every attacking player they can find. Certainly has the potential to be world class and can be had for probs £10m to £15m. a bargin in my opinion
