Slightly OT, but when I used to play a lot of Championship Manager/Football Manager I viewed our high-value (RL) transfers with a bit more disdain (OMG! They can't pay that, they'll be skint!), but nowdays I don't care how much money players cost and I just enjoying us buying people :D

Well exactly, glad to see us able to make purchases - last October feels like a long time ago now.

As long as the management identify a player as being pivotal to our progression and we can afford to make it happen, then the transfer fee is largely irrelevant.

4-1. Maxi :D Really, really impressive move. Aquilani's looking good.

Was a smart move, wasn't it? Good to see Aquilani take a knock, but get straight back up again too.

Wait, wat? 4-3 now. We only win games 4-3 these days.

Well that was entertaining. 2nd half much better than the 1st. Don't get why the commentator was impressed by Cole, lots of skill but no end product. Raul didn't look good, though he was stuck out on the left/right, Aqua impressed far more. Insua was great going forward, slightly less good at the back, worth keeping as a backup though. We're apparently close to signing Cissokho from Lyon.

Any more signings to be made this summer? I still think that a left back is desperately needed, i don't want to see GJ being played in that role again next year. the pursut of Jones and Wickham is suggestive that the club are willing to spend more than they already have if the deal is right for the club. I'm sure its Daglish's priorty too considering the club making a bid for clichy and the constant links to enrique which must have some truth to them.

Other than a left back, in a perfect world i'd like to see a new striker come in to give some competition to Carroll and offer the option of playing two upfront. I still don't think Ngog is cut out for this level, don't think Daglish rates him either as he preferred Kuyt in Carrolls absence. And if the rumours linking Ngog away turn into fruitition then another striker would be a must. Other than that the deadwood need to be removed probabky before anymore signings are made, another centre back and winger wouldn't go amiss.

We're looking at left backs, centre backs, forwards and wingers. I imagine it depends on who we can shift and how much it costs us but we've got the nucleus of a good squad now. Unless FSG blow us all away by going for Aguero or Pato, we'll be comfortably challenging for top 4 and hopefully get to both domestic cup finals :)

Henry was saying on twitter Ngog is going nowhere.

And Aquilani:

"One missing link last year: Aquilani," Henry wrote on Twitter.

"Put the ball near Ngog and the goal and it's going in. Too much talk of them somewhere else."

Manchester United's manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, believes Liverpool are now "back on the radar" after two years outside the top four.

Liverpool have not won the league in 21 years and finished sixth last season, as United overtook them with a 19th title. However, under Kenny Dalglish, Ferguson concedes they are a club to be wary of again.

"Liverpool went off the radar for a bit. They are now back on it," he said. "Long-term, you know they are going to be there."

And I just can't seem to get enough Suarez!

Did anybody catch Peru-Uruguay? The lad is a Don.

Starting to push his case for player of the tournament. Constantly busy and just makes things happen.

All down to Dalglish. As I've already mentioned, Fergie has a bit of fear (and respect) when it comes to Kenny. He'll also never be able to reconcile that Kenny made it at the highest level for his country, is well loved and thought of as a fantastic player - and he won the double as a player manager. That won't ever happen again.
