You'll get Adam soon enough.

There may be bids from other sides, which we're using to drive the price up, but Adam wants to go to Liverpool.

However, you've got to pay the going rate. Some of the money going around for players this summer has been ridiculous, so we're not going to be bullied into selling on the cheap just because we're 'little Blackpool'.

A proper fee, and some players on loan / permanent in return, and the deal will be done. The Liverpool view may be that it's Blackpool messing around, but from what I hear within the club Comolli continues to act like a clown and instead of being clear keeps pussyfooting around the issue. Comolli is stopping the transfer at the moment, nobody else.

Interesting stuff. This new LFC is starting to feel a bit like the old LFC in regard to transfer negotiations. The fact that Utd have, more or less, three of their probable four summer signings all wrapped up says it all really.

They didn't want Jones this season, our interest forced them to move in now. And Chelsea are sniffing around Modric...

Patience my friend. A lot of players are still on holiday and that might include our main targets. We'll do our business in our own sweet time. Personally just glad to be in the mix for bringing players in and not fretting about Reina or others leaving. We've gone back to the old Liverpool, but in the sense of doing things behind closed doors. Very little info is coming out and what there is should be taken with a pinch of salt. Judge our dealings on 31st August, that's when we can start coming to conclusions about how effective we are.

Also, we're hearing Comolli is being 'a clown' but from a Blackpool point of view. They want the best deal for them. Comolli wants the best deal for LFC, and that might not meet Blackpool's expectations right now so stands to reason they're going to have a negative perception of the dealings so far.

Wickham seems to be o his way to Sunderland, i'm surprised their bid didn't force Liverpool's hand. It ha been quiet lately, althoug multiple sources have been reporting all week that they epect the Downing and Adam deals to be finalised by the end of the week. Its either nothing is happening or all the transfer dealings are being kept secret

Why is Sammy Lee going?

It's not really worth getting upset over anything until the transfer window is open.

And even then, you win some, you lose some.

Oh I'm not actually upset, I was concerned about spending a lot of money on more unproven talent for the future when I'd like to see some more players for the now.

Do we need a striker that fits your description, though? If we're looking to play with 2 up front then I'd agree that we do. However, if we're moving to a single striker formation - and given how many CMs we have/will have it looks a distinct possibility - I think Kuyt will be enough in terms of 'cover and experience', with a younger guy coming in as well.

But as SMD has said: it's too early to tell.

Is anybody else not too upset that Wickham isn't coming to us now? I'd hope that means we've got another striker in mind to give us a bit of experience and cover.

Perhaps Ngoo or Morgan can step up or the stories regarding French forward Nolan Roux have some substance?

The fact that Sunderland haven't signed N'gog is very worrying.

I wouldn't say I am upset Wickham isn't coming, but I am a little disappointed as he really is an exciting prospect at the moment and I would have loved to see what he could do learning his trade alongside Luis and Carroll.

Still, got a long summer ahead so we have time to snatch a few quality players.

Rumour is that Clichy is now on his way...to Man City.

I read an article yesterday saying that Kenny has his hands ties by our dead wood - their wage bill amounts to £30 (Cole, jova, etc) and we can't shift em.

Possibly weve lost out on Wickham due to that, and also now Clichy.

I bet this is going to continue.

Probably Comoli's fault though, eh Reading fans?

Or possibly Liverpool didn't think Wickham was worth what Sunderland have paid. We need a reliable back-up to Carroll/Suarez, not expensive potential who may be no better than Ngog. And what have Reading got to do with anything?

have spurs gone cold on Cole? if they are proving too hard to shift because they are stuipidly refusing to take a cut on their wages then i guess we could loan them out or terminate their contracts. Not ideal but may be better in the long term. I'm confused how the last regime had no money for transfers but was still able to bring a load of average players in on £100k+ wages

Charliemouse, the Reading fan...

Says Disciple, the Watford fan...

:P

I think a lot of the analysis of players in this article that's referenced on that one is wrong in more than one direction, and that he's ignored factors such as who the players were replacing. Also making so little of the Ramos affair is missing the biggest single reason why we don't like the little snake in the grass.

Thanks for the updates, ODB. Watched a fair bit of Blackpool last season and if we can't afford playing time to one or two of our fringe players, they could do a lot worse than a season under Hollaway, so if a loanee seals the deal then cool beans.

As an aside, good luck to you next season, hopefully you'll get another crack at the top flight again soon. Genuinely enjoyed having the Tangerines in the Premier League (apart from two games in particular!)

Some loans in return would be best outcome for us, as our chairman is reluctant to spend any money to bring players in it seems.

Shelvey is a really good prospect and Danny Wilson would be well worth Blackpool taking for a season as well. Even at that, it may be worth them staying on for a further year if you come straight back up.
