Not wanting to sell your best player isn't being hard to negotiate with.

Well apparently we did that. Didn't take us long to get rid of our marque player who didn't want to play for us.

And how Holloway came out to say "he'll get his move in the summer".

Dunno what they're doing; it helps no one being so awkward.

There are rumours of other bids from Villa and United, so Blackpool could just be hard-balling to ensure they get the best price for themselves. Nothing wrong with that and I'd expect us to do the same.

If we want Adam, and he wants to come here, it'll happen soon enough.

Just wait until the European transfer window opens on Friday, then the fun really starts!

They're just holding out for more money; as is their right. Why should they sell on the cheap? If the player forces their hand and hands in a transfer request then I'm sure it'll be different. But that's the problem; everybody wants their slice of the pie.

[edit] Slow. So slow.

Its fine saying Meireles is at a stage when his value can only go down and he needs to be playing regularly, but Liverpool FC still need a top squad to challenge for the top 4/title this season. If by the end of the window we have that, then by all means its prob good to cash in on him now (even though he must have a good 4 seasons left in him). But if we start the season with Ngog, Spearing and Cole as our bench, i'll be a little miffed. Its all ifs and buts though as yet. You all seem pretty sure we are getting Adams and Downing soon, surely we arent paying 19mil for Downing though?!

If the scenario you've outlined above plays out then I will be just as pissed off as you. I don't think that is at all likely, though. I've no idea what we'll end up paying for Downing, but I'm not really concerned about the fee. I think he's an excellent player and he'd add a lot to the squad.

anyone heard anything about a passing interest in Aaron Lennon?

Only from the shitty Sunday rags.

Today's rumour from the BBC gossip roundup (story from the Indy) is that the Adam deal is nearly done, and Shelvey will go to Blackpool on loan as part of it. Sounds good to me, since he won't get that much first team action and could do with getting some matches under his belt. The rumours also suggest that Arsenal are eying up Mata now with the money from Fabregas.

Having said that, some of the stuff being talked about is ridiculous, as if Spurs would end up selling Modric, Bale, and Lennon in one summer.

It isn't too hard when the team that wanted him have bottomless pockets and really wanted him.

The difference is Kenny was very clear that he didn't want to keep an unhappy player. Blackpool don't seem to buy into this at all.

While you could say "oh it's Liverpool" look at the state we were in before Dalglish took over to totally transform the fortunes and feeling at the club.

Can anyone imagine what would have happened if Hoggle had stayed? It could have been a real disaster.

unfortunately they are usually quite accurate with these things, which you would expect considering they've tapped everyones phones

Nonsense, they make shit up constantly, they fabricate quotes and they nick stuff off other journos.

Even without the boycott they're trash, their past history with Liverpool fans just makes it official.

SSN says Blackpool are reporting that they've had no bids or Charlie Adam.

Got to feel for the guy if he doesn't get a move after all that.

And Kenny lost to them as well, right?

Yeah we lost a few games under Kenny, so what? It's not like we expected to win all ours games when he stepped in. But the truth is that the stats show we did a hell of a lot better with Kenny at the helm than we did under Woy and with the exact same squad bar 2 players. Infect it was actually tougher for Kenny cause he had to call up some Youth/Reserve lads due to the injuries we had.

We went from being just outside relegation close to Xmas to smashing United and City at home and beating Chelsea away, to being within touting distance of 4th with several weeks left of the season. Doesn't take a genius to work out why that was.

I know I'm filling your troll plate full here but I don't care, we did much better under Kenny than Hodgson and we'll do great next season. No I'm not saying we'll won the league but I feel very confident about the top 4 and even an domestic cup.

Personally I never wanted Hodgson so if it meant we had to be shit and have another dreadful season to get rid of him and have the King step in, that's fine by me. Luckily we didn't end up half as bad as it could have been.

You'll get Adam soon enough.

There may be bids from other sides, which we're using to drive the price up, but Adam wants to go to Liverpool.

However, you've got to pay the going rate. Some of the money going around for players this summer has been ridiculous, so we're not going to be bullied into selling on the cheap just because we're 'little Blackpool'.

A proper fee, and some players on loan / permanent in return, and the deal will be done. The Liverpool view may be that it's Blackpool messing around, but from what I hear within the club Comolli continues to act like a clown and instead of being clear keeps pussyfooting around the issue. Comolli is stopping the transfer at the moment, nobody else.

Comolli is a clown.

The one transfer window where he was given free reign took Tottenham 2 seasons to put right after buying loads of overpriced players we didnt even need.

Good job you got rid of him and replaced him with Redknapp!

Oh.

problem is he's only got a year left on his contract so Blackpool can't demand full whack when Liverpool are only buying a year. I think £8m is a very good offer considering Liverpool are only buying out the final year of his contract. But i think the biggest issue here is that because of some rather odd dealings at Blackpool the club are only going to see a fraction of that tranfer due to Holloway and Adam getting a slice and thats obviously motivating them to get as much as they can.

Or is it only us who get given pittence for players in the final years of their contracts? Owen, Arbeola etc :(
