I'd like another CB and a LB, personally.

I'd agree on the CB. I'm not 100% confident with our CB situation. Skrtl is too reckless at times, Carra is losing pace and Soto is utter wank. I'd have said a top quality CB signing was one thing we really needed.

Apparently Jones has come out and said this when he was asked why he rejected moves to either us or Arsenal. How much of it is true I don't know

"If I wanted a career to continue with no trophies, I'd just stay at Blackburn"

If that's true...wow

Are you saying that Liverpool didn't force his hand here? Kenny has the measure of Big Red faced Al and you know it. Stop dancing around the truth; deal with it.

Now stay our of our thread Spesh.

I'd call you an idiot, a dickhead, a prat.. but this says it all.

That's more than twice what I've posted in that thread.

Always be closing the door on the way out of the thread.

Why, prey tell, are you coming in to troll, informing about my posting elsewhere - by posting in here?!

Not only is that entirely stupid, yet clearly you don't understand the history that I needed to start a Man U thread to get you lot of of ours in the first place; and then stopped posting on there until Tripp and lazy modding meant that we wree getting enough to pop into yours and say hello.

Nice to see you'd bother checking on my posts in your thread. Very weird.

Clichy has regressed a lot since an excellent season in a few years back. Most Gooners don't rate him much anymore, but he's better than Gibbs so we just put up with it. He's worth £5m in today's market though, for sure.

If the reports are true, I have no idea why Liverpool are considering him. I can only assume they haven't watched him play. Clichy is a crap defender. He's great bombing forward and giving the ball away though! He's also very prone to 'switching off' and losing his man, plus he makes some shocking risky errors of judgement that gets punished.

Clichy was a very exciting player when he first broke in to our team. He had so much potential and he easily filled Ashley Cole's shoes for a few seasons, so much so that Cole wasn't missed. But Clichy went down hill after he became established and capped for France. I guess £5m is a gamble worth taking, but he isn't that good at all.

We still have Gibbs who is a much better defender, he's just very injury prone. As long as he stays fit, we will be stronger without Clichy.

Is any of Clichy's 'decline' due to different setup and personnel playing infront of him? By that I don't just mean the wide midfielders or wingers tracking back, but a disciplined defensive midfielder can ease the job of a full-back massively, see Mascherano or Makalele in his prime. I don't know enough about Arsenal to suggest that's the case, but it's possible...

papers today are saying that Juve don't want Aquilani and he's set to return. Not good, now that henderson has signed we certainly don't need another midfielder. We could have done with the cash to help with the summer rebuilding :( i heard we were asking for £9m which is more than fair too. Feckin' Juve...

We don't need the cash and I'd rather Aquilani came back than sold on the cheap.

And surely with Gerrard's injury problems and our lack of creativity there's a place for Alberto in the squad.

Agree. Also, there's a long old summer to come - still plenty of time to sell him on for a fair price to somebody else.

I'm not a big fan of Clichy. I think I made a post in the Arsenal thread about his 'lack of form' - as it was being referred to by many in there - lasting years, rather than weeks or months. However, I do recognise the potential he once displayed, and I think that at £5m he'd be worth the gamble. Since Kenny and Clarke came in we've looked really solid at the back. Skrtel looked absolutely hapless for a long time before that but with a bit of defensive drilling from Clarke, he's been pretty good.

I think they could fix him, basically.

He's linked with Napoli now although him and Hamsik together would be a lightweight combination.

I'd guess his non departure could slow down the inevitable Charlie Adam move.
