Henderson is not worth 10 million never mind 20!

Ask most Sunderland supporters and you will get a similar answer.

He is so overated.

Crap at crosses, doesnt score and never tackles.

Shit shit shit/

If he is leaving for the money that is being mentioned I am over the moon!

I liked Ngog, he struggled manfully up front on his own with our shit midfield behind him. He'll be a good striker, all the best.

Indeed. He could just do with a run in a team, which he won't get with us.

Sounds like we'll have a whole new team by July.

From our targets, it's look like we're aiming towards a 4-3-3 rather than 4-4-2. 3 midfielders and 3 attackers, with 2 for each position.

-------Carroll/Wickham

Downing/Mata?-----Suarez/Kuyt

-------Gerrard/Merelies

--Lucas/Spearing--Adam/Henderson

There's no way we'd rotate 6 central midfielders into just the 2 spots in a 4-4-2. Of course we'll also have that option, and for other formations.

I think I'll just say 'wow' to the whole thing. Really big gamble, I hope he does well, despite knowing next to nothing about the lad. Are we worse than City yet...?

Has N'Gog gone then? Good luck to the guy, he's definitely still got potential. Hasn't really grown much with us but he's still got the capacity to be a good or even great player.

Henderson created the fourth highest amount of goalscoring chances last season and that's a fact. Malouda, Davies and Downing where the only ones ahead of him.

The only thing that ever held back N'gog was N'gog himself. It always felt as if he didn't believe in his own ability.

That would point to him being a good source for Bent. Do Liverpool have anyone of that style?

Sounds like a risky signing, and not a position you'd automatically see as an important fix. It'll be really interesting to see the ins and outs over the close season to get an idea of what is shaping up. With this type of signing it looks like a major shake up.

Thommo (from RAWK) called it again, and he's saying that we're hoping to have Jones, Downing, Wickham and Adam tied up within the next two weeks. He's also said that we're doing what I hoped we might: offloading some of the deadwood in part exchange. Oh, and he reckons we'll still be going for players even after that lot are brought in.

Oh what a difference a year can make.

The next two weeks? That can't be right, I'm used to our deals dragging across the summer and then being frantically tied-up in the closing hours of the transfer window.

Left back and another attacker I'd bet.

Nah just you didn't mention him at all.

I can see him being sacrificed to be honest - he'll be on big wages and is unlikely to play much if we do sign the players we've been heavily linked with.

I reckon we'll keep hold of him. He showed this season that he can come into the team after a long absence and contribute without fuss. Having players like that in the squad can make a big difference. All it takes is a couple of lads to suffer injury or poor form, and he gets his chance in the side.

It is difficult to work out what we're going for system-wise, though. I still reckon Kenny will do as he has done and change things up as and when he sees fit, but I think you could be right in that we'll be seeing a lot of 4-3-3.

Yeah, and there's been a lot of noise about Juan Mata. All that lot plus Mata and a good left-back would leave us looking pretty strong for next season.

--------------------Carroll/Wickham

------------Mata/Downing-----Suarez/Kuyt

-------------------Gerrard/Merelies

-----------Lucas/Spearing--Adam/Henderson

Enrique?/Insua?--Carra/Skrtel--Agger/Jones--Johnson/Kelly

Looks pretty good :)

He isn't, though. And he's the kind of calm head you want in a young squad, especially if we're trying to increase movement and passing. He's a very intelligent footballer, ideally he'd retire with us because his game isn't based on physical attributes.

Good points. I do hope he stays, we could always do with more options on the bench. I just worry he'd want to go if he was hardly getting a game or even on the bench.

I can't recall seeing him play even once this season, so I have absolutely no idea what to think about this deal. But I do wonder if we've managed to palm off some of our deadwood on them, or if it's just a straight cash deal. I've read that it's £16m rising to £20m, but it'd be lovely if Poulsen and chums were making up some of that initial £16m.

I've just come in to the thread to post the same thing. I don't have a clue how he plays, I just asked my brother and he said he was a holding midfielder in the Alonso mould. i thought we would be concentrating on wide men this summer......unless of course we have tons of money to spend.

Sounds like its a done deal though, and I'm not too bothered about Ngog going, but a total of £20m certainly sounds a premium.
