Arsenal? New one on me but I'm under the impression Fergie would have liked to take him

Bob Wilson said that we bid for Reina last season. We generally always keep that stuff hush hush but if Bob Wilson said it then it probably happened. We were never likely to go back in for him this summer though after Wenger stumbled upon an apparent solution in Szczesny.

There was a bid from Arsenal but it didn't meet our asking price (thanks Purslow, our number one goalkeeper had an asking price) so it didn't happen.

it was probably something ridiculous like -£10m, i can't see wenger ever offering big bucks for a keeper

Erm... is sunday's game not on the TV at all?! Was hoping to watch it in the pub with some chums, be a bit bollocks if we have to crowd round mine and watch it on a dodgy stream.

Nope, Sky are showing the Arsenal game so you're going to have to find a pub that does foreign channels.

Well whatever it was, it wasn't enough even for the shysters so read into that what you will.

I'm fairly sure the Premier League contract says Sky have to spread their coverage equally across the 20 teams. They can reshuffle games early on, but it's kinda tricky at this end of the season.

Nope, you get paid based on the games you appear in, not every team gets equal coverage. They picked it because they thought Arsenal would still be in the title race. Whoops.

I'm sure I read recently that they have to show each team a minimum number of times, so not split evenly but there are targets.

EDIT: Wikipedia suggests there are limits although it doesn't say whether they are minimum or maximum.

Really? Cause it seems there's been shitloads of Liverpool games on TV this season!

We had something like 5 games shown in 7 weeks on ESPN around Novembet/December.

Turns out my dad bought himself, me and my brother the new away top with the bag and scarf :) I didn't know at all so it was a nice surprise.

Also just read this. Sounds like Spurs need some new scouts. Harry was told by them that Suarez wasnt up to the grade so he opted out putting a bid in.

Pretty sure Kenny being named the manager before the Spurs game was meant to spur us on to win today. This deffo wasn't meant to happen. Looks like we gotta rely on other results should we win next week. I guess the biggest advantage we have is that Birmingham will be playing their socks off to avoid relegation.

Just didn't happen today. Credit to Spurs, they timed their best performance for a while nicely and we had no answer. A lot of huff and puff but little end product. Vague hopes we can sneak a Europa League spot next week, but the bigger picture is still a positive one considering the roller coaster we've been on this season.

One positive, Flanagan didn't hide after the penalty, and got involved plenty.

Last week we played to our maximum, this week we showed our worst really. Nothing's changed as far as the summer plans but gutted all the same to throw away our unbeaten home run under Kenny and 5th spot.

Shoulder to shoulder on the edge of the box. It was soft to say the least.

I didn't have a problem with the foul, it was quite daft and he did charge in quite a bit. It was Webb giving a penalty that was the problem, as it was clearly outside of the box. Not really Webb's fault though, at speed it must have looked like it was in the box and at that point it seemed unlikely to change the game too much if he hadn't given it.

I expected much more but Spurs did the job and earned the points. Fair play to them. Not our worst performance, but not that good either. We have been spoilt lately so it was going to come to an end sometime.

One positive, Flanagan was getting down the wing and box a lot ^_^

So a soft pen, then ;)

No complaints about the result, we didn't look like getting back into the game at any point. Nothing changes really, still been an amazing turnaround, and we still have a lot to be optimistic about next season. Can't wait for the summer circus to begin for once.

It's a shame to give up 5th so easily - hopefully Birmingham will help out us next week and we'll get it back.

I'm actually more annoyed that our fantastic home record over Spurs (40-odd years since their last win at Anfield I think) has gone.

SMD is right though, this doesn't really change anything about where we think the club currently sits in the scheme of things. It'll be interesting how we plan to play to get the best out of Carroll and Suarez, given how very different they are our relative lack of pace and genuine width down the flanks.

Edit - 1993 they last won at Anfield.

Sorry, thought you meant the foul itself. Not sure why Dalglish took off Carroll for Cole right at the end, but by the timing of his appearances recently I'd say Cole knows he's going and Dalglish is trying to make people aware of him. He's not going to start and he's not high on the list of people to come on midway through

Nah, my initial post wasn't clear to be fair. Was just yanking your chain. In his post-match Kenny alluded to there being 'history' with Webb and decisions against us, so could be an FA charge on the way.

Was surprised to see Cole come on, but you could be right. Maybe Kenny was trying to bait 'arry? If there was footage of the bench during Cole's cameo I'm sure the King will be shown whispering, 'gwan wee man, you know you want him' every time Cole touched the ball.
