I take it you have a season ticket SMD? My brother in law does too, has had for 20+ years, he's in the main stand. I've been to a couple of games with him in the past, always a good time. He has so many tales of trips away in the UK and Europe, sounds like a right blast being a Liverpool fan :)

Funniest story he told me was a European tie away at Roma, apparently him and a load of the travelling fans went out and bought Lazio tracksuits the day of the game, and spent the evening wearing them and jumping about in the stadium, the ultimate U MAD BRO? to the Roma fans

No season ticket, just try really hard to get tickets. Home matches you can get lucky (I managed to get tickets for the derby by buying them straight after the Blackburn match when loads cancelled) but for aways it comes down to knowing those with STs. Thankfully I've made friends with quite a few and if they don't go they'll sort you out at face value.

As long as you're not arsed where you sit and you take what you're given, you can get to a decent number of games. The best games aren't necessarily the glamorous ones. Villa at home was great even though I froze my tits off and Napoli at home in the Europa League was fantastic. Bizarrely Everton wasn't as electric as it could've been, so it depends really.

Cool stuff :) hopefully I'll get to a game or two when I'm back in the UK over xmas, depending on the fixtures.

I've found myself watching loads of football since I moved here, its a connection to 'home' I guess, wouldn't class myself as a proper fan or anything, but I've really enjoyed watching Liverpool since Kenny took over, talk about a transformation.

Finished Carra's book over the weekend (well worth a read btw) and he mentioned how when he was a junior Kenny showed a keen interest across all level of players at the club, and would often meet with prospective players even at youth level. This level of interaction was one of the reasons he gave for choosing Liverpool over Everton, his boyhood team.

Been a few stories recently about some of the youth lads being promoted to training with the seniors for short periods (recall Conor Coady being given this honour). Little touches like that must do wonders to unify the club at all levels and what an incentive for some of the younger lads knowing such experiences are on offer. I imagine Kenny being on first name terms with everyone from the club shop to the CEO.

Aw, shucks. This is basically: Kenny

Another positive in appointing him long-term and great to see him bringing a few of them through. We're long overdue an exciting starlet or two.

Being 16-18 and knowing a bit of hard work will get you a chance with the seniors is the only incentive younger footballers should need. The money and the fame can come later.

Not only that but the fact that Kenny Fucking Dalglish reckons you're good enough to train with the first team squad is just mind blowing.

Can you imagine that? Kenny Dalglish asking specifically for you to come for training.

i can't believe we once had Crouch as our main striker, they must have been dark days indeed

He was quite good when he played for us! He left because he wanted a guaranteed starting place and he turned down a contract offer to do so. His record and the quality of goals when he played for us speaks for itself. Crouch is the sort of player who gets the piss ripped out of him even while banging them in, largely because people think his legs hinder his ball control, but he didn't have that problem with us. People criticised his heading ability too, but again he scored a lot of headers for us.

Didn't stop singing at all so the atmosphere just carried on straight into the second half.

Even though Craven Cottage is a comparatively tiny ground (22k or so attendance for the game) it sounded like a home game on the tv.

And them Crouch ended up at Spurs being a bit part player, knocking them out of the champions league. Twice!

Chances are it may more have been about money; starting place indeed.

Ashley Young update...

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/may/11/liverpool-manchester-united-ashley-young

Liverpool edge ahead of Manchester United in £15m race for Ashley Young

• England forward set to leave Aston Villa this summer

• Charlie Adam, Gary Cahill and Phil Jones also on shopping list

If I was Young I'd go for Liverpool over Man U. Ferguson is on the way out, and Kenny has got another 10-15 years to go! ;)

I fear this £100 million warchest story is going to give people unrealistic expectations about Liverpools transfer dealings this summer. If Dalglish was given a starting fund of £20-25million plus whatever he can raise from transfers I'd be more than happy with that considering how tight the previous owners were.

I'd rather we play Jay Spearing than Charlie Adam at the moment, he's fast becoming a monster of a player.

And while I'm here, fuck that stupid tit that said 'it's all Steve Clarke' in our progress in the main football thread. I don't doubt for a second Clarke has made a massive impact on the team setup and such, but it's clear Kenny's doing wonders for the attitudes of the players. There's a nurturing side to Kenny that you don't seem to get from many of the other managers - whether due to the perceived lack of pressure on Kenny or whatever, but to be a shoulder to lean on is hard to come by. The guy's a legend for a reason.

Why do you browse blatantly unreliable sites for news?

Why do you not know what you're talking about? Is that a stick up your arse or do you constantly whine.

The Guardian link no good for you either? Sheesh, trying to spread some good news/excitement here. Go cheer up.
