Liverpool Football Club

My dad was at Hillsborough on that day, in the Forest end. When it all kicked off everyone was giving it the ol' "typical Scousers" stuff, but when word was passed down and they realised what was going on on the other side of the pitch, quite a number were trying to force there way over to try and help. It must be something being so close to people dying and not being able to step in and do something about it.

Still, despite Liverpool still singing about hating Nottingham Forest (c'mon fellas, lay off it), they don't forget the Hillsborough disaster here in Nottingham, and quite a number still pay their respects at the City Ground and in the city centre. I bet the Cloughie statue has a few Liverpool flags draped on him today.

I think the editorial from WSC in 1989 pretty much said it all then.

Much appreciated fella, and if it makes you feel any better, we don't actually hate Forest (or Everton) :)

In fact, I'd rather Forest came up, a proper football club with a proper ground, not a soulless bowl with cheerleaders.

What a legend Rafa is, singing You'll Never Walk Alone and shedding the tears. The man really did get our club and I'd have him back in a heartbeat. Hopefully one day the man can lead us to some more glory.

Can someone in the know explain the current situation regarding Europa Cup qualification?

I know 5th place is a guaranteed spot, but will 6th place also provide a place in Europe assuming Man City/Man Utd win the FA Cup? But if Bolton/Stoke win it then they'll go into Europe instead.

Right?

No. I think the runners-up of the Cup get a UEFA place.

I always thought it was the runners up. The only time it wasn't the runners up (in recent memory) was when Cardiff lost to Pompey. The only way we could have gotten into Europe was if Man City would have played Man U in the final because winners and runners up would already have a European spot.

No, it's always the runners up if the team that wins the FA Cup have already qualified for European competition. And I think you mean when Pompey lost to Chelsea but they were in administration so they couldn't compete in Europe.

Rubbish. We're going out for a win, fuck United and fuck what anyone else is doing. We want to finish 4th and whatever happens happens as a result of the last 20 years, not the last two.

I'm going to the game and I hope we batter them. We battered City and it did them no harm.

Yep. The moment we start thinking like that is when we become a small bitter club like Everton!

Im not bothered about the 19 thing. The mancs care more; it's kinda funny, kinda sad that they're that bothered.

It's about winning for us if we can. We need to concentrate on us and not worry about others; the mancs can do that all they want. They still aren't as successful as us and they don't have the heart that our club does.

Play on lads, play on.

Plus they're fanbase is too full of glory hunters. I remember when they cam third in the league a while back and the majority of the so called united fans i knew stopped supporting them and became rugby league fans, and then convieniently returned to being united fans once they started winning again. disgraceful. I wonder if it gets boring for them, the excitement of supporting liverpool for me is sticking through the thick and thin, the good moments just taste so much better when you've had to hold tight through the bad times.

I'd love liverpool to be a hugely successful club but at the same time i'd hate us to attract the type of fans united do. But at the moment i'm quite proud to be only in a minority of people who proudly walk the streets where i live sporting a liverpool jersey despite the taunting it attracts, as that will soon change once Daglish is given a few more years ;)

I've got a mate who's a "Big United fan"...yeah one of those.

Back in 2001/02 he was saying that it was time to Ferguson go as he was past it.

Yeah, one of those.
