Christ, if I was Liverpool I would bite their hands off IF that money all went back into the team. The only issue is the apparent lack of strikers around at the moment. That's a hell of a lot of money, though, and Chelsea mightnot be quite so desperate in the summer.

Could you pick-up someone like, I dunno, The Hesk on the cheap for the rest of the season and then sort it out properly in the summer and build for next season.

Is Robbie Fowler looking to move back from Australia?!

Leave it RobinTripp. You're giving us Utd fans bad rep. You're pretty much acting like FATEone without the colourful language.

I've got more understanding of football in the smeg under my foreskin than you have in that undersized manc brain of yours 'AS.

I thought Robin Tripp was a Spurs fan!!?

You lot must be seriously hyped about Suarez.. I'm looking forward to seeing him in the prem.. except for when you play us next year!

are you taking the piss?

plus we could easily get £50m for torres from barca or real in the summer and have planty of time to get a replacement. no sense in selling now or to chelski

I don't see him fitting it with Barca, and joining Real would be trecherous for Atletico fans far beyond joining Chelsea is for Liverpool. Inter are the only realistic option abroad, IMO.

Maybe Cardiff?

I can't see it, myself. I don't think either of those clubs will be spending that money in the summer on one player.

If Torres stays until the end of the season, is not putting his heart into it, and then demands to leave in the summer I think you'll be a bit over a barrel and he could walk away for less.

if we getr a winger in then we could make a late push for the top 4. why sell now, especially as suarez was brought to compliment him

leaving for another prem team is a betrayal, if real offer the cash then its his option stay or go real.

He would never play for Real, and I'm sure he's said that.

Man City would pay £100 mill! lol, better off letting him go there and become a defensive midfielder.

I'm shocked by this to be honest, I thought he was one of the few classy guys around, and to do this now, when the club are on the cusp of turning things around seems a bit cuntish really. No way would I be letting him go anywhere. I'd rather have him playing in my reserves for a year and a half if he wasn't going to out in the required effort. Not saying that he wouldn't though. There's a good chance things could turn around massively for Liverpool with the arrival of Suarez, and next season would be an exciting prospect with the owners showing this kind of commitment and ambition.

surely selling him to chelsea would be a huge statement about our own future title credentials

if he wants to go then we can't help it but not to chelsea anything but a rival. Abroad and only abroad even if it means we get less

christ only liverpool can give me the high of suarez followed by the downer of our best player leaving rumours

Yeah that no one is bigger than the club.

So looks like Suarez is Nando's replacement, then? Ah well, if this is true then thanks for the memories kiddo, hope we get a bucket of money for you and don't let the door hit your arse on the way out.

no he wasn't! remember the dream of a suarez and torres? it was a beautiful dream, are you telling me i creamed my pants for nothing?

suarez is a great player but selling torres and getting suarez is a step back and doesn't fix any of our striker problems,

Board might think this is our best chance to get a load of cash for an off form unsettled player who'll be 29 at end of contract... If they can get a big fee can see why all 3 parties would want to do a deal like sidlowe said.

Main problem is selling the deal to us!

because chelski are cunts and Man City would offer us twice as much as well as a hand job for all

I'd like to see the Suarez Torres partnership too, think it'd be a beautiful thing. However, it's just too much of a coincidence that we sign one striker and then our current number nine is linked with a move away. Doubt Chelsea picked up the phone this afternoon, any potential deal has probably been worked on in tandem with us working on Suarez. Idle speculation of course but the whole saga has an inevitable feel to it.

Right now my best hope is Citeh rampage in with crazy money and set off a bidding war. Losing Nando would be shite, but we've signed - pending a medical - a classy player today, and with the remainder of Nando's fee we could address most of our weaknesses (although admittedly that would not be likely until the summer, unless other moves are pending).

Suarez can't be his replacement. He's not a number 9; he'll almost certainly be playing wide in our front three.

Meant in a more general sense of a striker replacing a striker than like-for-like (which they're not). If Torres does go, Ngog could play central in a front three for the remainder of the season. He's not in Nando's class, but still a decent enough option until a true replacement for Torres is brought in. Who knows, Ngog might blossom even more in such a scenario.

Never a dull moment.

no no your making me cry here, losing nando and having to do with ngog! sorry but he's not even good enough to play for west ham

there is no silver lining if torres goes chelsea none at all!

Erm, isn't one of the reasons he's on his way out of Ajax because he doesn't want to do exactly that? I'm sure I read something along those lines, will have a looksee...

edit: Ah no my mistake, it was speculation De Boer might prefer proper wingers.

I know you're upset, and I feel your pain. (Les Ferdinand, Geordie bastards!! Rahim Sterling.. you cuuunts!!) But do you really think that of Ngog?? I said in this thread ages ago, that he has the makings of a quality player, but just needs to beef up. He has done, but not quite enough, and Liverpool obviously haven't been in a position to bed him into a gelled team. Any time I've seen him play he links the play so well, has lovely technique, and can clearly finish too. I'm still betting on him being an extremely successful striker at the top level at some stage. A lot of you were writing Lucas off not that long ago as well. Now I bet he'd be starting in most people's teams.

I think Torres isn't leaving. Liverpool publically said "He's not for sale".

The rest is bluff and twaddle concucted by journalists to sell copy.

Mark my words the club won't let him go, as they've said.

I've never personally written Lucas off, but have always remained unconvinced that he should be a starter for us or will grow to reach the standard we're pursuing.

Always just thought of him as a good squad player. I only think he should be in the first team at the moment because we've lost a couple of world-class midfielders over the past two summers and aren't awash with options.

I post on a dedicated football forum too, where there is currently a thread dedicated to the Torres affair and within that thread people are pouring over the Torres thread at RAWK. Somebody just found this little gem from a thoroughly pissed off sounding Liverpool fan:

Its alright for you lot... im going to have to rename my cat
