Should our players come out and say they're staying every time there are rumours?

What if they negotiate to leave the deal falls through?

Everything should be done behind closed doors.

I agree entirely.

But... I can't help but be one of the people that worries when these transfer rumours come about, I find the idea of a Liverpool-less Torres quite sad.

EDIT: I'm gonna leave that in to highlight my own stupidity... I meant Torres-less Liverpool, of course

We won every single trophy in our history without him.

Blimey you're still going...

If you fools can sit there saying "I don't think this, and I don't think that" and actually believe that what you think means anything why can't I say what I think?

It seems a little odd that Liverpool are paying almost double the amount that they bid for a player less than a week ago, no? On the day when their only good striker is linked with a move away from the club? I'm sure this is all a coincidence though.

I stand by my point, I love the guy. He scores wonderful goals, he has that quite appealing dangerous arrogance, and i'd love to see him continue in a Liverpool shirt.

There's a very good chance that the day he does leave we'll replace him with some equally awesome, but for now, I hope he's going nowhere.

Don't be stupid. We were told we needed to complete the deal by tomorrow or it wasn't going to happen. It's been done, subject to signatures, today.

Nice work Sherlock.

Trolling by fans of other clubs is considered out of order in the single club threads (even Mr Do and Disciple usually manage this nowadays). The general football thread is a bit less sensitive and emotional, and may be more receptive to home truths and robust opinions that shatter hopes and dreams.

Liverpoolfc.tv are delighted to announce the launch of RedZone - a brand new way of watching the best of the action from our Barclays Premier League games.

Based on a similar concept to the live NFL show of the same name that has taken American television by storm, our match editors here have split the Anfield pitch into three thirds - with two Red Zones at either end - and cut out any of the action that occurred in the middle section of the pitch.

So out go long periods of possession play, tackles around the centre of the pitch and all forms of time wasting, intentional or otherwise. What you get instead in the RedZone is nothing but non-stop attacking play from both sides.

This is football in its most brutal, attacking form, and while by sticking rigidly to only action that occurs in the two RedZones you wouldn't get to marvel at the build up to last weekend's 31-pass goal against Wolves, you won't miss a single attacking moment from Wednesday night's match - at either end.

For those who want to watch all 90 minutes of the goals, extended highlights or even just the goals individually from all our games, those options are still very much available as part of the LFCTV Online subscription but this is something new for those who want to cut straight to the chase.

This has been orchestrated perfectly, get the good news out first and then hit them with the bad news afterwards (probably late tonight)...

And if he doesn't leave in this window will you agree to stop posting such ridiculous bullshit in this thread? Every single one of your posts have been utter bollocks.

Yes, I'm sure that had Liverpool waited until Sunday to come back with their panicked offer of almost twice as much cash then Ajax would have turned them away.

You don't know how the deal is structured, that original deal may have been straight cash, whereas this deal is "up to" £22.8m. Which means it is comprised of add ons etc. Also, have you ever heard of haggling? It's a pretty standard practice to start lower than you are willing to pay.

This guy 23 and has a lot of potential, compare this to the Darren Bent deal we've just seen and we definitely haven't been ripped off here.

You're an idiot. It was clear bargaining was going to happen, they were even asking for about £30m.

No. I don't understand how my opinion can be ridiculous - I pointed out the timing of the Torres speculation and the massively increased Suarez deal and that was met with the usual hissy fits. I'll comment as and when I please, it's not like I'm making things up and you're all quite happy to discuss transfer speculation, half of which probably is made up anyway.

Nowhere have I said 'you' have been ripped off. Liverpool's initial offer for the player was borderline insulting. I think he's an excellent player, plenty of potential, but he's a risk - he's not had that great of a season from what I understand and he's untested in this league (a much tougher league than the Eredivisie) whereas Bent is a proven player in this league at this level. Anyway, I really liked the player in the World Cup, and loved what he did when he was sent off, I'm a fan...or was until today. He's scum as of now.

Massively increased according to whom?

The club has specifically said we wouldn't comment on anything until it's done. Anyone telling you exactly how much we bid and when up until now isn't likely to know the full story.

If Torres goes, fine. If he wants to go, fine. But right now you're taking two bits of reported, unconfirmed bits of news and coming up with a conclusion. Whereas some of us are looking at the concrete info that we have, which is after weeks of haggling we've signed a forward who is very promising and strengthens us.

Liverpool target Luis Suarez keen to convince Ajax to reduce their £30m asking price

Luis Suarez is expected to hold talks with Ajax in the next 48 hours in an attempt to convince the Dutch side to reduce their £30 million asking price and let the Uruguayan striker join Liverpool.

Mate if anyone attached to Liverpool is "scum" then don't bother in this thread. You're obviously just on a wind-up, and as Graham said it's kind of agreed that we generally don't do that. I am not proud to say i've done it myself before! But you're doing it all long and drawn out. Go away!

How much more of a troll face do you need to put on before you're banned ? Well at least he's being honest about it.

Wasn't the bid earlier this week for around £12.7m and now he's gone for another ten (possibly in structured payments, possibly not)?

Ten million quid is a massive increase, surely?

Yes, I'm sure we bid £12.7m earlier and £22.8m today with no other offers in-between.

I don't recall the clubs saying that it was £12.7m
