Why couldn't Gerrard have waited and got sent off for a career ending challenge on Owen instead?

Still thinking Man U will get a couple more late on.

Even if we shipped another 5 goals here. What I have seen today fills me with confidence. Knocking the ball around, good movement and a confidence to the play.

Maybe some players realise it is the final, last chance of staying at the club and are taking it. It has been a day which shows there is pride in Liverpool FC, lots of it.

Agree. Once the pen went in you just knew it wasn't our day, it's been a decent knock though.

At least we can focus on the league! ;)

Didnt Webb get MOM?

Pretty much cut and dried, yet Man Utd against 10 men have only scored once - a penalty that shouldn't have been. They weren't great and only cheating and a biased ref saw them through all told.

It certainly feels that we've done better here than we'd have done with Hogwart.

Haha! Funny stuff on ITV there. Not only does Alardyce mention that the linesman never gave it but the whole "Body Language" analysis was genius and spot on!

Berbatov stands up and lies through his cheaty teeth...and whats interesting moreso is how he answered.

Anyone else seen it again? The question put to him was "Was it a penalty" and he certainly says "Of course it wasn't"

Go check again, blatant.

Cheats and liars, and only managed to beat a below par side, without their best player and down to ten men, one nil. It's a pity they didn't really seem to have a go in the end.

I know this has been discussed before, but Johnson being moved forward to a midfielder, or a winger, could it work? He's got defensive tendencies so he certainly wouldn't leave the right back (Kelly) exposed too often, he's got pace, can cross and is quite capable of taking it past a few defenders... He's also got a great role-moidel in Kuyt in how to press the opposition and force mistakes high up the pitch.

Could certainly work. I'd like to at least see it given a go. Might need a fully fit and firing Johnson though. Although, Kuyt did look knackered quite early in the second half which is not like him.

I don't think people should be attributing too much of today to Kenny; for starters, he only got back in the country last night and also (as Roy correctly pointed out Friday) the players shouldn't have needed any motivation for an FA Cup tie at Old Trafford.

What Kenny has done right though is talk a good game; compare him saying he felt humble to be involved again with Roy's 'this job is recognition of my achievements'.

Still, I maintain that Roy should have had the season.

True, also it's funny how Kenny is rightly being applauded for having the nerve to substitute Torres but the fact is if Hodgson had tried it he'd've been lynched for taking off our best hope of a goal.

The penalty fucked up the whole game but I'm not down with celebrating that we're plucky losers. Bad mistakes from Agger and Gerrard fucked up the whole game. So I don't think you can read anything really into the game today. Kelly did okay.

Brad is saying it's good to see some good football for a change, the last time he said that was pre-season. A couple of poor league games and everything goes out of the window. Blackpool game will be telling. Is it Blackpool next?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not doom and gloom but neither am I swinging from the chandaliers covered in twigs and smelling of bananas.

If today was with the exact same performance and outcome but with Hodgson in charge none of you would be happy, and that's a fact. So let's not get carried away because we managed to lose at Old Trafford.

They should send Torres on holiday for a couple of weeks.

He definitely needs it.

Only got to see the first half hour, but have to see every time I've seen Kelly (admittedly not that often) he's looked solid as anyone. Surely he should be starting at full back with Johnson on the wing?
