So Carragher out for three months. Could be a blessing in disguise.

What do you guys think? give him a coaching role.

Would be more of a blessing if Agger was fit, then again Kelly is good and able, so hope he gets a chance to step-in.

What I've read about Carragher is he's a keen student of the game and looks ripe for a coaching role at some point. He is entering the twilight of his playing career, so wouldn't be a surprise to see him enrolled on a few coaching courses between seasons.

I dont really understand all the negativity toward Carragher in this thread. I mean it is obvious his best years are behind him but he is still our best centre back.

Hmm, I don't know. he's the most passionate for sure. But for every last ditch tackel there's a penalty that should've been given against him. And then there's the fact he just can't carry the ball out of defense, that limits our options. Hyypia's distribution was great whereas Carragher's is terrible.

Has Carragher taken his badges yet? Of the 1999 squad, Keane is of course already managing, with mixed results. Solsjkaer is off to manage Molde, and Giggs, Neville and Scholes are all studying too. Problem is, there's no way of knowing if a great player will make a great manager. If any of them do come back as coach, they have an impossibly tough act to follow, and all the goodwill of the fans and players cannot change that. I think if Carragher does take the helm, probably after a stint with the reserves or as no. 2, at least he doesn't have that millstone around his neck. If he has the character and appetite required, it's a serious option to consider. Pep's success at Barcelona, where he had the belief of the players and the fans from day one, is obviously a model to follow.

It has been an abysmal game to watch, I dont know if it is because I am watching on a stream and we are away so less noise but it is just so boring.

We should be winning after Cole messed up a great opportunity and Reina's cock up but I am struggling to bother to keep watching.

It looks shit on ESPN with the third world picture quality from Romania, the game is very boring with little excitement .

So then, eh? Villa. We gotta win this, be nice to see Houllier back, hope he gets a tremendous welcome. Do you guys think he will? Of course he will.

Soto is defence? Or Wilson? I suppose Soto. What do you guys think? Are you excited about tonights match? Planning on how you're going to blame Roy whatever the outcome? Of course not that was just a little joke, I know you're all as pumped as I am for this match.

Really icy and chilly outside, hope we get a decent game to keep us warm. Shame it hasn't sold out but I'm looking forward to welcoming back Ged.

Any team news? The Newcastle fiasco seems to have dominated footy talk at the mo.

We (Villa) are so, so short of players at the minute. I fear the worst. The midfield in particular has been absolutely decimated - Petrov, Reo-Coker, Sidwell, Ashley Young, Albrighton, Bannan and Delph are all out through injury or suspension... which pretty much only leaves Downing as any sort of experienced head. We're also missing Cuellar, Beye and Heskey. And Dunne has lost the plot totally - he's been a complete liability since the tail end of last season.

Dark times. I'm glad I'm going out tonight so don't have any choice but to not watch it.

Awesome fucking swearing from somebody on the touchline.

I heard that. I'm pretty sure that's the Liverpool bench we could hear because the sweary fella sounded like Sammy Lee, and the guy saying "get level with the ball" shortly afterwards sounded like Roy.
