Massive game at Spurs next weekend; a win there (where our recent record is poor) would be very important, as we need to start taking points away and from teams around us. Would also be good for confidence moving into games against Villa, Newcastle and Fulham.

I agree. Johnson has been poor for far too long; let's hope we get a suitable response from him once he's back.

Well, it seems Roy's comments were well-judged. Glen put in a MotM performance for the first time in absolutely ages. A touch of that fabled man-management at play?

I thought Johnson said he didn't need it?

Genuinely asking here, not heard Johnson's post match comments just heard people talking about him.

It's highly likely that Glen Johnson has "done a Glen Johnson".

When he broke into the Chelsea team he went downhill. Obviously feeling he'd made it he went off the rails. He had to be farmed out to "sunny" Portsmouth to sort him out.

When he joined Liverpool promise was shown. Sure he was a bit rusty at the back; that will come with time though. It didn't. Unfortunately he still seems to switch off now and again and not do his most important job; defend for the team.

He needs to knuckle down and learn his trade, a la Ashley Cole - who used to be a pretty shoddy defender only making up for mistakes with his pace. Yet he applied himself and became a much, much better player.

Can he get his act together and fully justify that big price tag [even if it was Crouch assisted]?

i was thinking right back, he's been solid whenever i've seen him and even gets forwards pretty well. can't remember seeing him play left back, and who would we put right back if we put johnson right wing?

he has the frame for a centre back though, and it may be a shame to make him into a right back but it seems he can play mostly anywhere across the back 4 comfortably. i really believe he's solid enough to start for us regularly if needed

did we ever get him signed to a new contract?

All I know about Ireland is he's mental, has pink cars and pretended his mum died or something. I also seem to remember he looked like a hell of a player a couple of seasons ago. And he's young isn't he? What else is wrong with him? Genuine question.

If he was more versatile and could / would play from wider positions occasionally he'd be a great asset. The ability is there but the mental issues have always held him back.

As an Irish fan I am sick of him giving interviews everytime the team has an important game coming where he talks about why he no longer plays for Ireland and doesn't miss it.

He effectively retired from international football three years ago but he still keeps bringing the subject up at the worst possible times for the current management and players. He just seems to enjoying stirring it and putting more unnecessary pressure on his ex international team mates and some of his current club teammates.

If he doesn't want to play for Ireland anymore thats fine but I don't see any reason why he can't handle his retirement from international football like other players have where they just get on with the rest of their careers.

So he's a total dick, or *chuckle* or as you might say "he's a feckin' ejit" did I say that right? That's fair enough, I just wondered because I was surprised City let him go.
