Wasn't there a 0-0 between Liverpool and Sunderland yeaaaars ago...where Sunderland had 0 shots (officially, they had one from about 40 yards which hit a defender and was counted on the stats). That was worse I'm sure.

If I remember the game correctly we had something like 20+ shots but just couldn't score so while it was frustrating for Liverpool fans it probably wasn't bad to watch as a neutral.

Away European games have been boring for years and a 0-0 result given our line up is a decent result.

Yep it was about 20 shots.

Glad I missed the game, sounded awful.

They also didn't have a corner or a player caught offside. A mate of mine was at that game with her Sunderand-supporting fella.

Ha, Dortmund away in the Champions League years ago was far worse than some of our recent games.

So to try and be a bit more positive, what do people think of Kelly and Spearing? Potential there? From what I've seen of Kelly he hasn't looked too bad, not sure about Spearing though. Opinions?

I tuned in, he looked okay when he was on the right? A few times he just knocked it past a player, used his pace to get to the ball first then whipped it in dangerously. Not rocket science, but he can stretch teams and provide an outlet. I reckon if you hadn't sold Riera, and you had him and Babel playing on opposite wings since the start of the season, you'd be doing alright.

I like the look of Shelvey, I very much like Kelly (him with Johnson ahead of him :) ), Spearing was ok, but not the best for him to play next to Poulsen and Jonanovic looked pretty good. Pacheco needs to play more as well to see if he will be good enough.

The players for me that have to go over or at least stop playing so much in the next year must be:-

Babel- show him the door

The Greek - And him

Ngog - Not really sure if he is good enough

Poulsen - Bench

Lucas - Bench

I think Jonanovic should be getting more play time, swap between him and Cole. Cole will be good, but he's not a must on the starting XI at this point in time. Yet again last night we seemed short of ideas and lacked a cutting edge. Desperately need quality in attack.

N'gog and Kyrgiakos are absolutely fine in their roles as up and coming squad player and experienced squad player respectively; they've just been asked to do too much because Skrtel and Agger are seemingly never both fit and Carragher is past it, and then Torres is out of form/fitness and we don't really have an abundance of great center forwards. It's far, far too easy to scapegoat these fringe players for not being up to the task whilst overlooking the fact that they're only playing because the starting 11 are injured, playing shit or spread too thin to play every game. Shipping out N'Gog and Kyrgiakos are waaaay down the list of priorities for me.

If Poulsen is good enough for the bench then N'Gog and Kyrgiakos certainly are.

Is Pacheco injured or something or was he on the bench last night i dont recall.

Oh just seen im rep dip -5 in about 10 mins in the utd thread god they are touchy over the rooney saga!

Should've stayed in the neutral thread, wouldn't have got the negs there. Plus you were talking absolute shit regardless.

I'm sure if he was available and fit/good enough Roy would have selected him.

Part of me thinks we're clinging on to Pacheco as the next big thing and he might just not be ready to make the jump yet. I hope he does turn out to be awesome but i'm sure Roy isn't just overlooking him for the hell of it.

He was by far the best on the ball against Northampton. All our invention came through him and only when Shelvey came on did we have someone else who looked comfortable on the ball.

Players like Pacheco, Maxi, Torres, etc have looked lost because we're just not passing and moving with the ball. If we had movement they'd shine.
