That's quite funny (and clearly trolling). How was his record at Valencia against Roy's at Fulham?

I've said this before in this thread, but Sven has a reasonably similar CV to Roy, but has been far more successful. But who would have ever seriously considered offering him the job? Nobody. So how did Roy get it?

And the other thing I don't get is this association between anybody who doesn't like Roy must have loved Rafa. I thought Rafa had to go, but even before he was appointed didn't think Roy would be a good choice - it totally felt like a reaction to him losing a European final. Again, why didn't Sven get the job over Roy?

becase Sven would have been a less popular replacement than hodgson. I would have preferred Sven, nobody else did. This is why Sven didn't get the job. And if course it was SMD who started comparing win ratios, he only chose rafa's successful clubs . I didn't think that was fair as Roy never took over a Valencia when they were just about at their peak, had he done it would have affected that particular stat. So how is it not relevant?

Ramone, old chap, your the most boring poster here. Benitez raped your cat, we get it, now please move on and stop degenerating each new topic into a Benitez rant

hi there. muse hunter is it? Hi, I was simply responding to smd who said he wanted rafa back. Because if our fans are that stupid then there is no hope. Go back and read, not just the last few posts, try and follow the thread.

Amazing. He's a little inconsistent right now, but he's improving all the time. It's hard to compare him to anyone but he's basically a short, fast, direct, tricky guy, that is very skilful, and a great dribbler. Sound like anyone you've seen before? Yes, him. But to directly compare them would be like blasphemy at this stage.

I know Marin from Football Manager as he is always awesome in that and the first time I saw him was against Tottenham this year in the Champions League and he reminded me of who he reminded you of too!

Surely he would cost a fortune as he is clearly a great propsect already?

Marin is ok, not brilliant though. To even mention him in the same breath as Messi is laughable. He played twice in the world cup, was shit both times (how many German players can you say that about) and was dropped.

If you're going to be dropping cash make sure it's on someone proven, not another gamble on a promising youngster because your youth scouting team are fucking shit at picking anyone decent.

You should be looking at someone like Diego from Wolfsburg or Forlan. Someone like that.

Who mentioned Messi?

Diego is not a winger, would cost more than Marin, and Marin will turn out to be a better player than him. And I'm a fan of Diego. Forlan is old and would cost a bomb.

That's half the problem though, do/will Liverpool have the funds to sign proven players? As dogsout said, it's worth trying to sign a promising young player before his price tag rockets.

Is it not true that NESV's way of working is to recruit young talent and certainly not hesitate to cash in on them when they get older? A younger, hungrier team basically. Obviously I'm referring to baseball but it's all sport at the end of the day.

That kind-of illustrates my point though - Hodgson was appointed because he was a popular choice, not because he was the best manager. Sven's record is far superior.

As for the win ratios, it's not relevant because you are only as good as your last job. That said, I wonder what their overall win ratios are?

Anyway, where is all this Rijkaard talk coming from? Has something happened I don't know about?

The win ratios aren't relevant at all outside of a person trying argue some point be sectively bringing up ratios from only successful teams. They don't actually mean anything at all. That's why I didn't bring them up.

Regarding Sven most English people think he's s rubbish manager. It's mental but there you go. They seem to ignore his England record because of that game against brazil.

The rikjaard rumours come from the fact he seems on the verge of getting the sack.

Squad for tomorrow:

Liverpool squad: Reina, Jones, Hansen, Konchesky, Aurelio, Kyrgiakos, Skrtel, Wilson, Carragher, Kelly, Spearing, Poulsen, Shelvey, Maxi, Babel, Jovanovic, Pacheco, Eccleston, Cole, Ngog.

I'm guessing it'll be:

------------Reina

Kelly Kyrgiakos Skrtel Konchesky

Babel Poulsen Shelvey Jovanovic

------------Cole

------------Ngog
