I'd get rid of Hodgson and give Carra a go - don't think he could do much worse, plus probably has a better idea on what works for all the players (like pressing the opposition, holding a higher line etc).

Could have Daglish as a mentor/assistant.

I could see wisdom in the opposite approach

I think 2007 would be exaggerating, but the point is that we've no one to replace him. Unlike some of our defenders he can play in several positions, so even if he's underperforming, he's still an option. Like today where he was a RB put pushed forward like a winger. He's "undroppable" because we've no cover or replacement

Not really. He was at his peak then, after that he should've been rotated more as he just hasn't got the legs to play week in week out. Against pacy players, it's just a nightmare unless he plays right on Pepe's toes.

I'm not saying we need to get rid - for playing reasons - just that we can't rely on him to be an automatic first choice. I was gutted when we couldn't afford Kjaer.

Right. But we always seem to have defenders on the injury list, so theres little choice in him being automatic, like today where he was moved to fill in at RB.

We need more defenders and now we've gotten rid of the debt, there's no excuse not to strengthen there.

He certainly did rotate quite often to rest players, he told us why he was doing it at the time! Yes he did stop doing it so much and to degrees. Kuyt wasn't working as a striker, he got moved. Not only is he one of our hardest working players, but he can still score goals from being "on the wing" as well as set them up.

and that's learning from your mistakes?

Gerrard didn't play well today.

Couldn't disagree more, thought only Jagielka had a better game.

see I remember the corners, I don't remember the excellent football. You were watching Everton -v- liverpool?

I'm pretty sure, i'm not so sure you were.

Littleman, this lot would punch their kids to get one over on me, but not even they are prepared to suggest gerrard was very good today and the second best player on the pitch you mentalcase.

Haha, i'm being called a mentalcase by Mr Mentalcase.

As ramone would say, you're too much!

I don't think you quite get it. I don't have a problem with you, outside the Liverpool thread I think you can be quite funny. It's just that sometimes you peddle such obvious shite that it shouldn't go unchallenged.

That said, I think Gerrard's shown up for 10 minutes this season, and that was against United when we just ignored Hodgson's tactics and played without fear.

People were openly calling for his head on RAWK before he'd even managed one game.

They were right.

Yeah and the official line was back the manager.

Now, he's fair game because there's absolutely no excuse left. Should've been a gutsy, passionate performance at the very least.

Instead we got wet grass.

Didn't these rawk folks blame the previous owners for the quality of the team and the poor performances? But, what? Suddenly it's the manager's fault! So the team was good enough. So... What a fickle bunch those crazy rawksters are!

The question is should we allow Roy to build HIS team? I don't think to. We got him to try and get more from a decent but underperforming team, not to build his own. Seems his motivational powers aren't up to it. We need that hypnotist, the one that convinces people they're awesome. The one I listen to.
