I think it will be easier to be the chaser rather than the chasee. I must say though, and, you know this isn't just about last night, a draw with Everton isn't terrible by any means. I'm just saying this Rafa all over the paper with his contract, Agger's contract, the Fergie stuff. If it was Parry or the owners who was saying this in public and then the results weren't so great you'd all be having strokes and sending them hatemail. Because it's Rafa, who has a history of petulance, nobody says much of even defends him!

Yeah yeah, I know, you didn't hear my big mouth when we were winning.

I'd rather be top with a game in hand to be honest.

I don't doubt that we're all going to drop points between now and the end of the season, but at least we've got a 3 point cushion and superior goal difference.

Like most people are saying though, a draw in the derby isn't anything to get worried about. You lot need to just keep plugging away.

I know you're just trying to make yourself feel better, but that's never true. Any team would rather be on top than behind. I know people talk about "all the pressures on them, they can't afford to slip up" and so on, but it's all crap. As a Chelsea fan I tried hard to believe it all last season.

Anyway, how long can Rafa afford to continue playing Keane? I know he can't just drop him as that will kill the boys already shattered confidence, but he was so useless last night.

Seriously, Liverpool are pretty rubbish at the moment. Why does Benitez keep subbing Keane and Torres for vastly inferior players. Torres was looking dangerous (despite his miss). Everton played well though, they deserved the point. Even better, I won some cash thanks to that equalizer.

Glad someone did, becuase I f***ing didn't! :)

Well I think we'd have need a big gap. As we didn't build a big gap then I think I'd rather we were a couple of points behind United until the last few games rather than a couple of points in front. Of course it probably is bollocks. Chelsea are different, they had the self belief, something I don't think Liverpool really do have.

If you're asking that question, you either didn't watch the game or have no idea what you're talking about; Keane was a waste of a man last night and should've come off much earlier and Torres was completely fucked after about 60 mins.

By all means, question who replaced them, but not the fact they came off.

Gutted about last nights result. Expected so much more from the boys as we are fighting for the title but the fight wasn't really there last night. I desperately want to see Carragher back at centre back as he isn't the most effective out wide, Skytel is just back from a huge injury and is looking a bit nervy (and to blame for the goal) and I still don't think our left back situation is solid.

Yet again I have to bring up Benayoun though. I don't think he is bad player but to me he isn't good enough to be in the squad week in week out. Why oh why would we put him on when we are 1-0 up against such a physical side?! He's lightweight, he's a luxury and he shouldn't have been there last night unless we were at least 2-0 up!

Yeah, they are.

I didn't say they weren't playing well, but I'd say that they're in a false position.

I don't remember us getting ghost penalties.

When were we 'lucky' this season (opposition players fouling ours and then getting sent off and late goals don't count, btw)?

It was 0-0 when Benayoun came on actually.

Okay then, ghost penalites don't count either, sheesh, two can play that game!

But come on, fair play to villa, the table doesn't lie.

Yeah they're doing really well, tbb was saying some shit about Liverpool should be worried about them coming and getting 2nd place of us. Anyone here realistically think Villa will finish 2nd this season? No chance.

I know it's likely you'll beat Fulham, but you don't yet have a three point cushion, just a game in hand.

Well the table is a good representation of how well a team is doing, how do you not buy in to it? You could argue that the bottom of the table doesn't much this season as all the teams are within spitting distance.

Generally though, the table doesn't lie.

What about the top, then?

Just as tight.

Haven't really been paying attention, but I remember Gerrard getting a 'ghost penalty' against some side in Europe (I think). Yes, I know that's not the league, but it's still a 'ghost' penalty.

Indeed he did - against Madrid.*

*insert 'league only' disclaimer here.

Well sure the table doesn't lie about how they've done so far, but for instance you could see Villa losing to all the top four quite easily in the second half of the season.

I'm willing to bet with tbb if hes confident £100 that Villa do no finish top 3.

The top four are fairly close, but with regards to the current form a fair representation I'd say. The fact you can be 18th and win a game and go up to 11th is kinda what I was getting to before.

Teams sometimes get more than they deserve or less, hence why I don't agree with the statement.

Villa have already played 5 of their 8 games against the top four (assuming you meant Arsenal as the fourth team) - three homes draws (Man United, Liverpool, Arsenal), a win at Arsenal and a defeat at Chelsea so far - so something you can 'quite easily' see happening is actually impossible.

Given how tight the league is so far, the potential three points 'saved' here could make a huge difference.

Anyway, there's a long, long way to go yet.

So why not take the bet on the basis that no money changes hands now and the bet is settled at the end of the season? If one of you welches then you'll be a figure of ridicule on here forever.

Failing that you could do the following:

The loser must use an avatar and signature designed by the winner for a month (or whatever).

I'm up for that. The deal is Aston Villa in the top 3, right? Yeah, i'm serious I will do this bet properly. I'm pretty damn confident about it. Put your money where your mouth is!

Or yeah, i'll have a Man Utd or whatever avatar and signature if it happens! And if not... well you have to use the avatar of my choice. Not for a month though. For the whole of next season.

Hmm, annoyed at the result. I was watching the game up until the 70th minute then had to catch a plane, was sure I'd be reading a nice "liverpool back on top" headline :)

Ah well, positive thinking, we're going to win this thing, destroy united and bring it home...

At least some of the pressure is off us now

We have to take positives out of this

Now the hunter becomes the hunted

I think the pressure is on.

Results have turned to mush somewhat.
